‘UFC on Versus 4′ Adds Mitrione vs. Morecraft, Lauzon vs. Warburton

(And if they touch chins? Forget it, bro. Total chaos.)

Despite an official 4-0 record in the Octagon, TUF 10 vet Matt Mitrione won’t be getting a big step up for his next bout. The UFC confirmed yesterday that ‘Meathead’ will be taking on fellow heavyweight Christian Morecraft at UFC on Versus 4 (June 26th, Pittsburgh). Morecraft tasted victory last month with a technical submission over Sean McCorkle, but was knocked out by Stefan Struve in his UFC debut last August. Mitrione last competed at ‘Fight for the Troops 2′ in Janaury, where he┬áscored a first-round TKO over Tim Hague, but injured his left hand during the fight.

Also announced for the UFC on Versus 4 card was the return of Joe Lauzon, who will be trying to bounce back from his kimura loss to George Sotiropoulos at UFC 123. J-Lau will face British lightweight prospect Curt Warburton, who recently outpointed Maciej Jewtuszko at UFC 127, following a decision loss to Spencer Fisher in his debut.┬áThe current list of matchups for the UFC’s first trip to Pittsburgh is after the jump…

Pat Barry vs. Cheick Kongo
Matt Mitrione vs. Christian Morecraft
Joe Stevenson vs. Javier Vazquez
Joe Lauzon vs. Curt Warburton
Tyson Griffin vs. Manvel Gamburyan
Matt Brown vs. Rich Attonito
Michael Johnson vs. Edward Faaloloto

I know that Pittsburgh isn't a proven fight market and has to prove itself before it a PPV. But this card is weak and will only hurt it's perception as not being a fight market.

Kongo - Barry smells alot like Kongo Crocop. Alot of clinching and knees to the legs. Super exciting.....

This is the UFC's plan to make people think Mitrione is good by giving him cans till he has a good record. If he fought anyone mid tier fighter he would be destroyed. Actually I won't be surprised if Morecraft whoops his ass.

Lauzon needs to put a few wins together, this is a good match for him to start

Barry vs. Kongo has real potential.

Potential to be the fight where Barry loses the ability to procreate, that is.

Actually, it'll probably be an awesome fight as well if Kongo can keep his knee out of Barry's crotch for at least SOME of the fight.

Time for the Meat train to derail. He's gotten lucky so far. He's a decent enough guy and seems like a hard worker but he is probably the most unimpressive fighter after Stefan Struve. Throw him a half decent opponent like the guys who will be fighting after him (Barry or Kongo) and you'll see what i'm talking about.

I kinda hope I can go to a baby due June 8, don't know how much "discretionary spending" I can free up...can't wait til they post ticket prices though...

Even w/ the losses, Tyson Griffin and Joe Daddy on the card are awesome in my book...that's just me.

it looks like the card has the prelims taken care of...

I don't care what anyone says about him, meathead is ok in my book. With a little more training and some direction, he'd be a beast.
