Steroids in MMA
Which MMA Fighter Will Test Positive For Steroids Next?

UFC Quick Hits: TUF 8 Semis, UFN 17 Bookings, ‘Undisputed’ Delay?

Reminder: Bounce to Spike TV directly after WEC 37 tonight for the final two episodes of The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir, which will feature all four of the season’s semi-final matchups. They will be:

Efrain Escudero vs. Junie Browning (LW)
Phillipe Nover vs. George Roop (LW)
Ryan Bader vs. Eliot Marshall (LHW)
K-Sos vs. Vinny Magalhaes (LHW)

Some TUF fans claim to have already seen a promo on Spike that inadvertently spoiled the results. (Only click this link if you dig potential spoilers.) In other UFC news…

MMA Mania reports that a lightweight bout between Kurt Pellegrino and Rob Emerson is in the works for Ultimate Fight Night 17 (February 7th, Las Vegas). Both men are coming off wins, with Pellegrino most recently defeating Thiago Tavares by decision at UFC 88, and Emerson scoring a 12-second knockout of Manny Gamburyan at UFC 87. Emerson has gone 6-0 with one no-contest in his last seven fights — not bad for a guy who started his MMA career with a 2-6 record.

— Another lightweight match between Gleison Tibau and Rich Clementi has been confirmed, and may go down at either UFN 17 or UFC 95 (February 21st; London, England). It’s a must-win for Tibau, who has lost back-to-back matches against Tyson Griffin and Joe Stevenson. Clementi, is coming off a decision loss via smothering against Gray Maynard at UFC 90, which snapped a six-fight win streak.

— Despite losing their WEC debuts last month at WEC 36, light heavyweight Steve Steinbeiss and middleweight Nissen Osterneck have reportedly been picked up by the UFC. Go figure.

If Frank Trigg can be believed, Georges St. Pierre is not guaranteed to be in the UFC’s upcoming video game UFC 2009 Undisputed, because his Creative Artists Agency contract precludes him from signing away his likeness for life. Greg Savage from Sherdog’s Savage Dog Show adds that the game may have to be delayed to secure more fighters, due to all the contractual headaches it’s causing.

The Biz- December 3, 2008 at 11:38 pm
You're right...the game is still in the EARLY stages of development. I guess since it's been worked on for nearly 3 years and the game launches this spring 09...yeah I guess you could call December 08 an early stage of development.

Who's the dumbshit now?
boober- December 3, 2008 at 9:42 pm
just because his likness is in the very early stages of the production of the game doesnt mean he will be in the final release, dumbshits

In one of Danas video blogs where he went to THQ, I'm 90% sure you can see GSP fighting on the game, just before they let dana play as lesnar against nog.
The Biz- December 3, 2008 at 4:02 pm
Funny that Savage is weighing in on this as well....from what I've heard he hasn't even contacted anyone at THQ or UFC to see if the rumors are true or not...

I'm going out on a limb and saying the delay rumors and the rumors about GSP are not true.

Call me crazy....but I might have some inside scoop on this.
The Biz- December 3, 2008 at 4:02 pm
Did you not see Dana's video blog before UFC 91? They showed GSP v. BJ Penn in the videogame segment.

If that's not proof enough that GSP's in the game, I don't know what is.

FF to the 1:56 mark.

.....he's in the game.

All it takes is one powerful, well-represented fighter (like GSP) to stand up to White's ridiculous demands and more and more will start falling in behind him. What's Dana going to do if most of the top UFC fighters refuse to sign this stupid "lifetime likeness rights" contract? Fire them all? That would be like giftwrapping a "Legitimate Competing Promoter Certificate" for Affliction (or maybe even Strikeforce) and sending it to them for Christmas. Either that, or he's going to have a fighters' union on his hands before he knows it.

junie wins final against phillipe!

Why do people care about this fucking redneck Junie?

Another rumor on Sherdog says they saw a commercial and it had one of the finalists different than on the spoiler link on the UG. One spoiler said Kzrzyzszsztzofzfzfz won, and the other said Vinny won. So much for relying on spoilers, I guess.

What if Junie looses the fight....THEN gets kicked out of the house....
mayhem420- December 3, 2008 at 1:56 pm
Ha!!! If true I knew Vinny would beat Ksos... which sux since I dont like Vinny but I just had that feeling....
If it is him and Bader in the finals then I would still have to pick Vinny.
If Junie gets kicked out does that mean Efrin gets a pass or do they bring someone back to fight him?
Matt- December 3, 2008 at 1:54 pm
Philepe vs. Efrain is an easy pick
But ksos looked good in his second fight, he could give vinny's jits game trouble
Geriatric Peon- December 3, 2008 at 1:39 pm
Good to see that White's ego is getting in the way of making a quality game.

I don't think this spike commercial was an accident or anything. Most of their commercials try to show you things, in essense trying to trick you. I haven't seen one UFC commercial without two things:
1) The guy on the commercial yelling his ass off about whats gonna happen and then saying only on SPIIIIKE.
2) Them trying to edit the commercial so it seems you know what'll happen.

We'll have to wait and see I guess.
