UFC Undisputed to Return in January with Pride Mode. No, this is Not a Joke

Of course, you wouldn’t expect us to make inappropriate jokes about the UFC in the first place. Props:

As a gamer, it sometimes confuses me that I get so excited about the release of new sports games.  Other than updated rosters and an occasional gimmick that actually pans out, I’m essentially buying the exact same game every year. Not to mention that for every new feature that I’ll actually use, such as the truck stick in Madden games, there are two or three that I’ll either ignore or downright loathe. So for me to actually be excited about the newest edition of UFC Undisputed is sort of an accomplishment.

Earlier this week, THQ and the UFC released details regarding the game’s development.  Set to be released in January of 2012, UFC Undisputed 3 will be available for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 gaming consoles.  Obviously, UFC Undisputed 3 will feature the addition of featherweights and bantamweights, improved graphics and new camera angles, just like every other sequel to a sports game. For those of you looking to get in touch with your inner Mayhems, the game will also have fighter entrances. What is especially noteworthy though is that the game will also allow players to play in Pride mode.

For those of you thinking that this just means players will get to use soccer kicks in the Octagon, prepare to be pleasantly surprised.  The game will not only feature authentic  Pride environments (read: a ring), but also Bas Rutten and Stephen Quadros doing commentary.  That alone has potential to be an awesome gaming experience, although the competition for best video game announcer is pretty stiff.  Naturally, you will also be allowed to use soccer kicks, knees to a downed opponent and head stomps.

i use the leg kick all the time in 2010 and they slow your opponent down bu dont end up doing much to the fight. if you want to use leg kicks ten trow them the right way with a combo and you wont get ko'd every time. this will undoubtedly be better than the last simply because theyve had more time to hear everyone bitch about the things that are shit and also, its new.
one final not, its a fuckin game to have fun so treat it as such.

I cant wait to be a prime Shogun in Pride and leg kick everyone to death.

THQ has stated that you will be able to get a TKO if you damage the legs enough. I'm very excited after watching that trailer.

Wouldn't be a complete Pride mode without Lenne Hardt.

The aim is to HAVE FUN in a video game. IRL you want to win.

It's a videogame, the aim is to win. If you want a real fight, go join a gym.
boxofpickles- June 4, 2011 at 8:57 pm
sounds like you just cant fight..

I never go to decision I only play 5 rounders, decisions are rare. I go through phases of different styles, i get bored with one thing and work on something else. Lately im hooked on combos ending with leg kicks, and leg kicks in general. Ive never gotten more angry than when i started using leg kicks. They really rnt very effective, if you get the body or head to 100% fights over. Kick a leg thats at 100% doesnt appear to do anything. Im like a george gurgel of undisputed.. I know what Im doing is losing me fights but its fun and i cant help it. I like trying to make it look like a real fight and less like a robotic video game and unfortunately while that takes more skill imo it gets you losses.

That's what you get for attempting to leave it in the hands of the judges.

You're looking at this game the wrong way*

quotes by armfarmer,
"One thing i can’t stand, I feel like it encourages you to pick one part of the body to attack over and over.. I’ve had too many games against shitty players that I lost because i did 100% damage to a leg, 89% to the body, 75% to the head… and they just winged power punches the whole time and knocked me out with 80% head damage and 0% everywhere else."

Your looking at this game the real way, the game is about winning. In order to win.. you must submit, KO, or score more points than the opponent just like in real life. and just like in real life and this game anything can happen. anyone can be knocked out at any time.. theres plenty of videos to show that. you can beat the hell out of someone and they still can one punch you. which means you obviously have a defense problem because you cant understand how they knock you out. If your gunna use the strategy and play for points than you need to upgrade your defense because obviously your not good enough for that strategy if your getting knocked out all the time.

Play the game like a fighter do play like your playing Mortal kombat or streefighter or madden.

plus i dont how many times a fighter has said i shouldnt have left the decision with the judges.. so why try to get a decision..why not go for a glorified win with ko or submission

personally in the game i think the submission system in the game is flawed.
boxofpickles- June 4, 2011 at 5:14 pm
sadly.. i dont think this is gunna work for the game really.. they've made the game for ufc.. but fighters fight very different in pride fights with the stomps and what not.. and for most of ppl that play ground and pound characters ... what are they gunna do about that.. make it so its not a penalty in the game to do elbows on the ground..

their doing this... but they better fucking do this right.. or its gunna be flawed in the game and plenty of ppl are gunna be pissed off

I hope the replays in this one don't ignore all the cool shit you pulled off so that they can show 3 identical double leg take downs at the end of each round. Be nice if they fix the gameplay too. It's not a completely broken game, it can be fun, but it's not very good imo.

no prelim live blog?????

Now if they could only fix the goddamn controls so that the fights don't feel like a giant Minigame.

Really makes you wonder if the whole plan from the start was to revive pride. From the second they bought Strikeforce I've suspected it. Buying Strikeforce gives them a door back into japanese mma with their dream ties. Not to mention the fact that the UFC currently has very few fighters that have fought in japan in the past 5 years. Strikeforce on the otherhand has a bunch of big name draws on their roster sure to get the japanese fans to pop.

Maybe the big earthquake squashed the plans, maybe it's a crazy theory. But I suppose you never know. Btw, if El Guapo isn't a secret unlockable fighter I'm going to flip out. Do it right zuffa.

I hope they dont stop updating this one like they did 2..
