Michael Bisping’s UFC 89 Vlog – Watch more free videos
Here’s Michael Bisping‘s UFC 89 video blog from yesterday, following him through the weigh-ins and the aftermath. Since much of this video is just Bisping sitting around and talking with his British friends, I understood very little of what was going on. Still it seems interesting that Bisping does his own video blog for this event, is basically the impetus for the whole card and its location, and has already been named as the next TUF coach regardless of his performance tonight.
At least one fighter thinks all the attention is undeserved. In Sherdog’s “pros pick” article for this fight, Clay Guida not only sides with Chris Leben but calls Bisping “the most overrated TUF winner in UFC history.” Daaaaaamn!

didn't leben lose TUF? looking at his record on sherdog, he did beat a few names, although it was a long time ago... cote, fioravanti, radach, swick, dewees, rivera... not all A-listers, but not all scrubs either. guida is exaggerating a bit, i think... but bisping needs a big win tonight to really prove himself worthy. i think he'll get it. i think he's the real deal, whereas leben's a born gatekeeper.

Does anyone remeber that time Bisping knocked out that other dude? No? Anybody? Oh thats right it never happens. Bisping is good, but definetly beatable and a little overated. He ran away from 205 because he was scared of Matt Hammil. Luckily for him Hammil hasn't heard about it yet.

If Leben has learned to tuck his chin in a little, Bisping will have some real problems with him, I think. It's clear the UFC is pushing "The Count" a little more than he deserves because he is so wildly popular in the U.K. At least it isn't anywhere near the kind of crazy "over-rating" that was heaped upon Kimbo Slice by EliteXC. This will be a real fight and the price is certainly right.

Bisping was very gassed towards the end of the fight and Leben looked to have better energy levels. However, Bisping landed many more punches and Leben’s defence is his steel jaw. Bisping picked his punches very well and was accurate to boot where as Leben was swinging like a goon and missing. I must admit though, if Leben landed a decent shot towards the end I think Bisping could have gone down as there were a couple of ‘slaps’ that didn’t look to catch Bisping but threw him off balance. Bisping will have to work very hard before the Silva fight to even have a chance of making it out of the first round IMO.
