Urijah Faber to Return in January Against Raphael Assuncao

(If he can handle that, he can handle anything.)

According to a new report by MMA Weekly, former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber will return to action for the first time since his decision loss to Mike Brown in June, when he takes on top contender Raphael Assuncao at WEC 46 (January 11th, Sacramento). Faber has spent the last few months rehabbing the hand injuries he suffered against Brown, but described the January event as "perfect timing for me."

Though Assuncao may not be a household name yet, the 14-1 submission specialist has won both of his appearances in the WEC (decisions over Jameel Massouh and Yves Jabouin) and we consider him to be one of the ten best featherweights in the world right now. Faber vs. Assuncao is slated to be WEC 46′s co-main event, supporting the lightweight title unification bout between Jamie Varner and Benson Henderson — unless Henderson needs more time to recover from his own injuries, in which case it’ll be up to the California Kid to carry the card. Will Faber be able to re-establish himself in the division he ruled for almost three years, or will Assuncao put himself on that map as the WEC’s next featherweight star?

She's going for the reach around. That's nice of her; many people wouldn't.

Well we'll see whats what in your next rankings. Kid Dynamite is just plain beats I think. Leonard Garcia is fighting the Anvil in a few weeks. Takeshi Inoue is fighting Alexande Franca Nogueira tomorrow. Mackens? Well just watch his Fabiano fight again OMG! As for your Imanari he is better off staying in DEEP where he belongs cause Fernandes showed him what Dream can be like to a subpar fighter like him, he must of forgotten what Joachim Hansen did to him last time he tried to step out of DEEP and tried Pride? @CP was looking over these FW rankings and was wondering what kind of dope you must b smoking when sitting around making these top ten lists how you would include a guy like Marlon Sandro (14-1 not many tough opponents on his record though), Norifumi Yamamoto (who cares anymore), and Masakazu Imanari (who ever really cared?). Then you omit 3 FW fighters who actually deserve it like Leonard Garcia (13-4), Mackens Semerzier (undefeated coming off a win over Fabiano), and Takeshi Inoue (16-3). I mean don't get me wrong if Marlon can get one more win against a quality opponent in Sengoku like Masanori Kanehara or even avenge his loss to Michihiro Omigawa then I myself would consider him top ten in the world. Kid Dynamite??? Really?

In related news, Avril Lavigne hired Urijah Faber for a central role in her new video, "Fighter Boi." When reached for comments, Mr. Faber said that the casting couch made him a bit uncomfortable.

Faber's a good fighter. His whole whigger persona, however, is annoying. And that pic is just downright tacky.

Urijah looks far too comfortable with this position.

"See Urijah, even though you are a little young for this, this is how you can tell a good proctologist from a bad one....It's all about the position of the hands."

And that, my friends, is why you should never turn your back on your opponent.
