Steroids in MMA
Which MMA Fighter Will Test Positive For Steroids Next?

Video: Bellator’s Pitbull Brothers Are Bad Motherf*ckers

If you haven’t been following Bellator this season, you’ve been missing out on some great fights, most of which have involved two Brazilian brothers with the same name. The Pitbull brothers, Patricky (9-1)and Patricio (15-1) Freire have proven themselves to be two of the most dynamic fighters Bellator has, serving up heaping helpings of flying-knee and one-punch KOs on MTV2 every time out this year.

In spite of their recent emergence from seeming obscurity, the brothers Freire — who happen to train with MMA’s most famous brothers with the same name, the Nogueiras — didn’t just become badasses; they’ve both been bad motherfuckers for some time.

Patricky’s flying knee he landed against Toby Imada last weekend, (which, FYI was the second time he’s finished a fight in that way) has been the talk of the MMA world, but Patricio was the first of the two to finish a fight with the spectacular move.

Here’s Patricio’s flying-knee KO over Gleristone Santos at Brazil Nordeste Combat April 2, 2009 in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil:

When Patricky KO’ed former WEC lightweight champ Rob McCullough at Bellator 36, many fans and pundits wrote it off as being a result of “Razor” having lost a step. I spoke to Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney last week and he rebuked the claim, noting that, “The Razor Rob that fought Pitbull was the best Razor Rob that I’ve seen in the past three years.”

He may be right. Here’s the video highlights of the March 12 scrap:

Bellator fighters in the 145 and 155 pound divisions are lucky there aren’t soccer kicks and stomps allowed in North America. Just ask Joao Paulo about how adept the Freires (who have both beaten the 29-8 Brazilian) are at utilizing the PRIDE finishing moves.

Here’s a clip of Patricky putting the stamp on Paulo at Cage Fight Nordeste November 9, 2006 in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.

And finally, here’s a clip of Patricio finishing Vinicius Borba by running-knee after dropping the Brazilian with a highlight reel head kick at Eagle Fighting Championship’s September 26, 2009 event in Sao Paulo, Brazil:

I thought you had the exclusive on all things Bellator pimp! Shit you put Bellator on the CP map. Tell yo boy to hook you up wit dem digits and stick with the MFC. Its much more fun telling you how shitty and longwindededed your bellator news is.

@ Karma
I bet those several gym memberships can get pretty expensive. Been doin it for "sometime" have you? When I was training I could only afford 1 at a time, and would have to do the rest at home or, with friends that were training in different disciplines.

There are enough Pitbulls in MMA now to get Michael Vick interested in the sport?

For the record sir hipster I gotta throw it out there that I watch all MMA events possible on television I have for sometime been a member to several gyms. Those gyms both have different provider one has cable and the other has satalite so can I be a hipster it's been a lifetime goal of mine and I'd really like to add it to my resume? mind if I throw down my gautnlet? Can I be a bellator hype man? Will you be my Batman? can I be your Robin? Jujitsu class peace out!
KidDinomite- April 5, 2011 at 9:29 am
Yeah MTV2 isn't in HD at all I don't think. But yeah the brothers Freire are basically walking highlight reels. Bellator would be smart to keep these two around and build the company around them. Patricky vs. Eddie Alvarez would be an awesome fight. If Patricio gets through his next opponent and Wilson Reis again, Joe Warren is gonna get KTFO this time.
Viva Hate- April 5, 2011 at 9:27 am
Hate to be picky but Patricky beat Yure Machado by decision not triangle choke.
Jesus Frijoles- April 5, 2011 at 9:24 am
I turned it on just in time to see Patricky fight last time.
ExpectJesusBro- April 5, 2011 at 9:09 am
