If we didn’t know better, we’d say that the folks at Sportsnet commissioned an AI robot from Round 5 in the “likeness” of Dana White to put the fighters he interviews at ease. But sadly, it’s just Canadian MMA talking head “Showdown” Joe Ferraro asking Chael Sonnen questions in an unnatural radio announcer timbre and inflection in the videos above and below.
Even Chael seems taken aback by Twiki’s voice at first, or maybe it was just because the interviewer’s opening of, “Talk a bit about your next opponent Brian Stann,” left “Showdown” open for a predictable Wikipedia-worthy account of Stann’s fight bio.
Eventualy, though, Chael hit his stride after being initially thrown off of his game by Canada’s Casey Kasem and in less than ten minutes he seasons the interview by sprinkling in insults about Anderson Silva, Rampage Jackson, the UFC’s light heavyweight class, Fedor Emelianenko and Wanderlei Silva among others.
The highlight has to be Sonnen’s claim that Fedor has only really had five fights and that his real record stands at 3-2 because of his assertion that fights in Japan are all fixed.
One surprising comment he did make is that he is becoming a fan of women’s MMA, which seems a bit too politically correct for “The American Gangster.”
Makes you appreciate the Karyn Bryants and Ariel Helwanis out there who have game.

Chael Sonnen believes that Fedor’s time in Japan is not relevant, yet Hendo’s is, it proves at least one thing. He is better than a good employee.
I think Chael is both quicker, smarter, and wittier than Dan White. He also is a high level competitor and regardless of PED’s can hold his own.
We also know he can set his own agenda and then negotiate out of wet paper bag if need be. All the qualities of a Chief Executive. The only thing he is missing is some depth in strategic planning and a beep-box.
I urge the Fluffer Bros seriously consider taking their venture to the next level. Dump Dana next to the ranks of Chocholate Al and the princess Ariel with a unlimited food and beverage expense account, and the have a board meeting to promote Mr. Sonnen to become the UFC’s next CEO.
