Coach Greg Jackson says seeing Jones fight “is like seeing a Picasso” compared to every other run-of-the-mill painting. Boxing trainer Mike Winkeljohn says that comparisons between his charge and Muhammed Ali are well-deserved and similar greatness is in “Jones’ destiny.” Teammate Clay Guida calls him “a super hero action figure-esque fighter.”
This could explain why the heavily-touted fighter, who has only trained MMA for three years, has begun tooting his own horn for anyone who wants to hear it. According to the 23-year-old, he has begun signing autographs, “2011 UFC light heavyweight champ, Jon Jones.”
If he loses Saturday night, those autographs could become a quirky collectors item.
