Steroids in MMA
Which MMA Fighter Will Test Positive For Steroids Next?

Video: Countdown to UFC 128, AKA ‘The Bones Jones Hype Machine’

(Video courtesy of Zuffa LLC)

Jon Jones has a lot of hype to live up to heading into his light heavyweight title fight with Mauricio “Shogun” Rua this weekend and a lion’s share of it is being perpetuated by his own camp.

Coach Greg Jackson says seeing Jones fight “is like seeing a Picasso” compared to every other run-of-the-mill painting. Boxing trainer Mike Winkeljohn says that comparisons between his charge and Muhammed Ali are well-deserved and similar greatness is in “Jones’ destiny.” Teammate Clay Guida calls him “a super hero action figure-esque fighter.”

This could explain why the heavily-touted fighter, who has only trained MMA for three years, has begun tooting his own horn for anyone who wants to hear it. According to the 23-year-old, he has begun signing autographs, “2011 UFC light heavyweight champ, Jon Jones.

If he loses Saturday night, those autographs could become a quirky collectors item.

Jon Jones is the Picasso of MMA.

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua is the Mauricio "Shogun" Rua of MMA.

+1 Shogun

this dudes ginna get murdered,
his hype and fame remind me of the smashin machine, he domintaed lessa people and went on a streak, then fot some notible people and got smashed himself, i was ok wit jones at first even all the shit bein said about him bein the second comin, but his cockeyness and attitude have really made me hate him,
he has a scripture on his chest that says on wit the help fellowship and strength of JESUS can he do all things, yet he gives him self more glory than a charlie sheen smokes crack.
i hope he gets frekin destroyed. how can you look past one of the best 205 er's eva, how can you call yourself the champ allready, man for once i wish ufc allowed soccer kicks

If Jones wins it will seriously impact our heavily-tattoo'd white male homosexual skinhead demographic.

The questioned that sparked the jon jones remark, "poop like i poop" was a huge weight added to jones for the next few days. that reporter gave him a little P.Diddy mind fuck. Asking basicly how are you at such a young age going to look across the octagon at this walking ledgend of a man that us mere mortals are are blessed with the privlage of calling shogun?

@mikeymiilions spot on. he heard that questioned and his brain flatlined.....poop.

Loving the Shogun supporters, I'm glad theres some educated fans out there. WAR SHOGUN I am so confident especially after that presser today that Jones is WAY over his head. Jones was so awkward "poop like I poop" wtf dont get it twisted Jon, Shogun shits in the toilet and you are shitting your pants!
Ballkick- March 16, 2011 at 8:32 pm
There is a fine line between confidence and conceit,...Jones may have crossed over to the dark side, racial slur intended.
Also had trouble finding CP on Google,....WTF?

wouldnt it be great if we picked which fighter would win based on how good they fight - not on whether they snitched at school or are very fond of themselves.

I can see Bones winning in some sort of crazy dominant fashion tempting Rogan to suggest it's the "Jones Era" - but I can just as easily imagine Shoggy putting a dent in his head and keeping the belt.

completely off subject, what with the lack of on google?? At least for me, the actual site doesnt come up on the main page. Whatd you do Ben?
noname- March 16, 2011 at 6:16 pm
Anyone else notice that Bruce Buffer called Rua "still the light heavyweight champion" at the beginning even though Rua has never defended the belt.

"I wanna be the GSP with amazing striking" wow. this guy is making tons of friends at Jackson's. GSP has outstruck everybody everybody he's ever fought in every fight except for one so if Jones thinks he can do better than that, well, good luck is all I have to say.
RearNakedSpoon- March 16, 2011 at 5:15 pm
Interesting Shogun brought up Jones lack of knockout power. I never thought about it but his boxing does seem to lack that for such a big guy. I'm usually a Jackson camp nuthugger but I just can't get behind Jones.

What do I make of Greg Jackson's comment when I think Picasso sucks?
RwilsonR- March 16, 2011 at 4:58 pm
I'm with Lopes. I think Jones will be a better fighter if he experiences some adversity early on to test what he's made of. It helped GSP to lose to Hughes, and then helped him further to lose to Serra. Since then he has been unstoppable.
Hopefully those Jones autographs will be the equivalent of the "Dewey Wins!" headlines.
uzithrasha- March 16, 2011 at 4:54 pm
he was really cool and complimentary towards the people he was fighting but as of late starting before the bader fight hes been a real cocky prick like stalking baders twitter like some kind of fag, ive grown out of his hype machine because of his attitude. I dont care what the Potato betting gods say, im putting my money on shogun like i always have. I hope he knee bars him worse the kevin randleman. And i think that is a real possibility. Shogun round 1 kneebar
Lopes- March 16, 2011 at 4:46 pm
I really hope, for Jones’ sake, that Shogun demolishes him. The kid has been beating guys way too easily and he’s developing a real arrogance. A good ass-whooping will bring him back down to Earth, give him some humility, and make him a better fighter in the long run.
danomite- March 16, 2011 at 4:30 pm
I like watching Bones fight and he seems like a nice enough guy (minus the cockiness) but GOD do I hope Shogun beats the absolute crap out of him. I don't even want it to be close. I want Shogun to drop him with the first punch he lands. Then we can learn why we don't tempt the MMA gods.
the glza- March 16, 2011 at 4:20 pm
i'm gonna laugh so freakin hard when shogun pounds his head in...
