Video: Countdown to UFC 131

(Video courtesy of YouTube/UFC)

If you missed the UFC 131 countdown show last night, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Of noting is that the UFC enlisted the help of former WWE writer Paul Heyman to help produce the Camp Carwin segments of the show, which he was likely hired for when it was supposed to be his pal Brock Lesnar fighting dos Santos. It’s likely no coincidence, though that Carwin seemed to have a lot more contrived soundbites than usual like, “I’ve wrestled since I was six years old. These hands are meant to get ahold of people. I get ahold of Junior dos Santos, the fight’s over.”

The highlight may be Georges St-Pierre’s attempt at sarcastic humor, when he tells the camera that “Kenny [Florian] is a fool. I even don’t like him. I don’t know why he’s coming here. I despise him.” This may be as close as we ever see GSP trash talking someone, so we’ll take whatever we’ll get.

Wow, that above commenter's opinion on Mark Munoz and Demian Maia is some of the dumbest shit I've read in ages. Munoz, the top ground and pound guy, versus Maia who is one of the best brazillian jiujitsu fighters EVER. If that's not an intriguing match up to you, then you're a moron

who gives a crap about munoz vs maia? Both of them should be fighting for scraps in Strikeforce; wasn't Munoz the guy who Matt Hamill kicked in the head and K.O.'d. Pathetic. Maia is even worse, he couldnt throw a punch to save his life.Winner will be victorious by dry-hump

ide say the majority of those guys are reading scripted items, i would agree that you can definatly tell when someon isnt into it, carwin on camera is like a little bit more attentive nick diaz, but you can tell he hates being in front of it, hopefully the fight itself will be one for the history books

If i had to guess on who has the bigger power in their hands id go with carwin, but id give JDS an edge in the boxing. Anyway this will be a battle of megadueces, JDS Shane Carwin.......SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTIIIIIIIIIIIIIME!!!!!

Nothing new, everytime they do that segment right before the gladiator intro of fighters talking about their opponent it always sounds written and rehearsed. You can always tell when a non actor isn't speaking from the heart, just watch any show on mtv. They all sound the same.

Georges last attempt at trash talking left us with his famous "I em not impress wit yer performance", so I'm all for him giving us some more to work with.

Yeah, Carwin sounds so wooden in this. It's like he's reading lines, which he probably was.
