MMA Fighter Challenges People to Punch Him in the Face, Everyone Fails

Video: Don Frye Loses His Latest Comeback Fight Against Warpath Villareal

(Props: sitthongsai via CP reader Andrew W.)

On Sunday, 46-year-old MMA old-schooler Don Frye competed at a Gladiator Challenge event in Lincoln, California, making his first cage appearance since a one-minute TKO loss to Dave Herman in 2009. This one lasted a little longer, but ended the same way, with Don eating punches until he fell over. Poor Don.

Frye was originally supposed to face Mike Gonzales, but ended up throwing leather with journeyman Ruben “Warpath” Villareal; Frye and Warpath had previously fought to a draw at a King of the Cage event back in 2006. Villareal didn’t leave it to the judges this time, KO’ing Frye about two-and-a-half minutes into the fight. The win snapped a five-fight losing streak for Warpath, and earned him the Gladiator Challenge light-heavyweight title.

Don Frye's starting to look more and more like he took a few fries from Roy Nelson's happy meal at BK.
The one thing I always respected about Frye was that he was and is one of the few with a wrestling background, who preferred duking shit out, standing and banging until him or his opponent went down.

Never thought I'd see Warpath in better shape than Frye.
That said, at least their fighting and not typing...

No way Don Frye is 205. Not with that gut. Didn't frye fight at heavyweight when he was skinnier? Props to Warpath for losing some serious weight, barely recognized him.

I'm not sure "blow your load Rueben" is good coaching advice when two guys are that close to each other.

The 'stache looks stronger than ever, and that's what's important.

^Maaaaaybe if he goes on a wicked crime spree or crashes his ride into a schoolbus full of kids, but other than that I mean.

Two Warpath references in one day, inludding a fight video.
Enjoy it while it lasts, folks, as we'll never see that again.

I'm with Armfarmer on this. How can you realistically have a title fight between one guy on a five fight losing streak and another that's retired? That's a Surefire way to let everyone know your promotion is a joke.

When Frye loses, we all lose.

Warpath could beat up Don Frye everyday for the rest of his life and still wouldn't be half the man Don is.

You know you've got a prestigious title when 5 straight losses put you in contention.... lol

That mustache just can't take the punishment like it used to. Not that I'm saying Don should retire the mustache...

light-heavyweight title? Frye looks awful big for a light heavy. WTF is he doing fighting at 46 for anyway? Did he really miss the concussions that much?
