Video: Ford Steals Win in the Third Against Parisyan Via Doctor Stoppage Due to Cut at MMA Live 1 Thursday

If there was any question as to whether or not Karo Parisyan has turned a corner from his highly publicized battle with anxiety and painkiller abuse, he answered it with his showing against Ryan Ford at MMA Live 1 in London, Ontario Canada Thursday night.

Logging what was arguably his best performance of the past three years, Parisyan took the two opening rounds of the bout utilizing his flashy judo and ground control and was looking good in the opening minute of the third when Ford connected with a stiff knee to the crown of the Armenian judoka that opened up a nasty cut and left the mat soaked in blood. When Parisyan slipped in the puddle of blood, veteran referee Yves Lavigne called in the ringside physician who, after a few moments of deliberation, called the fight off, giving Ford the win via TKO at 1:26 of round 3.

Parisyan’s wound was as deep as his skull, but still he walked out of the cage with his head held high having accomplished his goal of “just going out there and proving to myself and to my fans that I’m back.”

We will have exclusive interviews with both Karo and Ryan up soon, but in the meantime check out rounds two and three below.

Okay now he's whining about the stoppage. Fuck you, Karo. He split you open. You would have bled to death if they let the fight go on. Winning the previous round means shit if you get rapped on the forehead and split open. You lost, quit being your old self.

Karo, please bring a fitness trainer on board dude, if you get your bf% down you'll be amazed at how much better it'd make you. I'll do it for free bro!

Wow I thought you guys prided yourselves on mma knowledge. Clearly it's a horrible cut. Ford busted that fuckers face wide open. He won. Karo was clearly fucked up and wasn't going to come back afterwards. He was slipping on his own loser-ass blood.

Good fight. Unfortunate for Karo. Good to see him back on track - he's one of the only fighters I can think of with a decidedly Judo style. It's entertaining and unorthodox. Needs a lot of work on the standup though.

I think Ryan took round 1, too.

Usually when I know the outcome of a multiple-round fight ahead of time, I would have skipped it entirely or at least to the third round. I'm glad I didn't do that for this one. Both of them gave a good accounting of themselves in that fight. Glad nobody got a broke neck with all those head-landing judo falls, though. Damn Karo bled a lot and fast. For him, it may go in the L column, but that was no loss. Hold your head up, Karo.

Karo ducked under a lot of Ford's punches in the first and some were arm and chest shots. Between the takedowns, taking Ford's back and working from side control, Karo took it IMO.

I agree with Rwilson on that. That's a lot of work to put in for over two rounds, to go uncounted because of the cut. Scar tissue can open easily, so the actual cut should not be an indication of a fighters dominance.

Man i think Ford got round 1 or it was a draw. Karo def had a lot of take downs but didn't do much with it. Ford had a few and actually did some good damage on the feet. Karo completely dominated the second and looked like he was about to get the business in the 3rd regardless of the stoppage.

I think that's unfortunate that the fight ended that way. Especially since I think if a doctor forces a stoppage in the third, it should go to the score cards, not be an automatic TKO for the guy who caused the cut. If a fighter quits because of the cut, that's another issue. But if a doctor stops it, it should go to the judges if it is in round 3.

Seemed like a good fight, Karo looked a lil tired in the Third, but first and second round was definetly the Karo of old. Not my favorite way for a fight to end, but good on Ryan Ford for not givin up, been watchin him him for a while now

Thanks for posting the video, I knew this fight would be interesting. Karo looked pretty good, but as I had stated orignally is rather unevolved in his fighting arsenal.
Tough loss for Karo, but a nice win for Ford who really needed it as well.
