Video: Friends & Fans Pay Tribute to TapouT’s Mask
Mike Straka with Fox News Fight Game was at yesterday’s memorial for Tapout’s Charles “Mask” Lewis at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California. Well-known MMA figures like Lorenzo Fertitta, Joe Rogan, and Josh Barnett all spoke about what Mask meant to the sport, and TapouT’s Dan “Punkass” Caldwell urged that he be remembered for helping people.
Whatever you think of the facepaint (and there’s even a glimpse of a photo of Mask without it, if you’re curious), you know you’ve lived some kind of life when they hold your memorial at a place with “cathedral” in its name. RIP, buddy.

This guy's life is a real inspiration to anyone with little means, but high hopes and aspirations. RIP, Mask.

Are you kidding? If it wasn't for tapout people would still think it's o.k. to run around Ken Shamrock style speedo's. You think it's hard enough now to get people to stop refering to this sport as gay forplay. For that alone Tapout deserves our respect.
Terrakilla Says:
Fuck you Pierre Larouche and weatherman2012. If it wasn't for people like him many fighters would have given up since they had no support. Can't pay your bills without money you morons. You fools know nothing and are MMA newbs.
weatherman2013 Says:
how about NO, KEG and terrakilla................. i honestly think the fighters could have made it on there own. you freakin mma noobs.
Cecil Peoples Says:
What are you talking about, my main man gsp likes to rock the speedos
walrus Says:
Those sponsorships are no where close to the level Tapout is. You're getting really desperate to make yourself feel correct.
Shut up; you're an idiot. And you're the MMA noob, faggot.
Bubbaduncan Says:
Really puts things in perspective. One minute you're driving your Ferarri with youre hot, young girlfriend. Finally got some money in the bank. Next second, some drunken fool hits your car and you're dead. Fucked up.

mask with no face paint = terry martin?
Quasicholo Says:
RIP Charles "Mask" Lewis. We owe him and Tapout a lot for their financial contributions to this sport. Without all of that, the sport would have never gotten the sanctions or the publicity and mainstream recognition it deserves.

armfarmer Says:
Ok I disliked Mask more than anyone, hated their show, their costumes, the whole gimmick, and their clothes.. but to say the guy "didn't do anything" is ludicrous. I didn't like the whole tapout clothes/crew ect. but I still have to give them respect for what they did.. which was take their lives from nothing to something. Any man that goes from barely making ends meet and living out of his car to making millions living his dream doing what he loves and at the same time being an influential person and helping other people fulfill their dreams.. you gotta give them some credit. If you don't well you're just a jealous deuchebag loser and no one likes you (weatherman)
weatherman2014 Says:
to all you haters out there.. how the hell do you know how he grew up.. maybe he said those things to make himself more marketable... you guys are dipshits and gullible..
Exactly he didnt do anything....... i think UFc would have made it on its own and the fighters... what contribution has he made to society....nothing..
so shut it mma noobs 'faggot'

I agree. Never really cared much about the fad clothing thing. As for the financial support that some fighters might have touched from this little clothing line, I don't care either. What the fuck do I care how tough it is for a fighter to make ends meet. I just wanna see 'em fight. I guess what matters to me happens inside the cage/ring. Couldn't care less about the backstory on these guys if it's not directly related to fighting. We're starting to get into the whole man-drama that is pro wrestling here.
Anyone who pretends to know the backstory on fighters and care about their personal situations, their behind-the-scenes dealings, and pretends that this has any relevance to MMA is a douche. Don't forget you're just a tard sitting at home typin on your computer, watching YouTube fights and the occasional free event.

Lotsa love around here...
Despite all the great things, and the cliched "livin' out of the car", Like Pierre LaRouche said, Its still Douchbag clothing for Douchebags, with the side effect that some fighters see some of that douchebag money. Lte's just be clear

You are a rude ignorant piece of shit. And such comments should be moderated. NOT allowed up…
Please tell us what you’ve done that’s SO great., that you can hack on Mask.
I’m not a Mask nut-hugger, but you sound like a little boy looking for attention.
I guess I gave you some. Please send me a clip of you fighting or something spectacular you’ve done. If you do, then I being a MAN, unlike you will apologize.
People should have a little more respect for others. But you my friend will find Karma to be a bitch. I promise!

Scott Says:
He was brave enough to go out and live his life exactly how he wanted. How many can say that about their own life? How many of you are able to take a dream, accomplish it and have it be a life changing accomplishment?
How many of you sit at a desk, doing something you despise? I respect anyone that has the courage to lead their life exactly how they want to lead it.
Instead we sit on websites, leaving arbitrary comments about the accomplishments of others.
ThatGuyOverThere Says:
It's a shame that a man who did no great wrong, can have such horrible things said about him in death, from people who never knew him. When a person dies, they're square with the fucking house. Then the world is either a little better place without them, or a little worse. Everyone that knew Mask, said he should be remembered for helping people. I gotta believe the world's probably a little worse without him, because selfless people are a rare breed anymore.
It's not about being a Mask "nuthugger", or douchebag clothing for douchebags, or trying to act like a playerhater.(Weatherman, don't be scared homey.) It's about having the common respect for human life, to maybe just shut the fuck up this once. Maybe save your smartass comment for another post, and keep the fucked up thought you're having to yourself. Just a thought

I wonder if Rogan freaked out when he saw the mic pushed in his face was from Fox News.
scott whitt Says:
An Iron Maiden short!?!?!?!
Really ?!?!?!?
I love Maiden as much as the next guy but couldn't someone that was supposedly as influenced by Mask as he said he was, at least wear a Tapout shirt? How about ironing out the one button down shirt you have in the back of the closet that you use for parole hearings?
Geez.
bbbcsw Says:
Loved being Mask on the TAPOUT x-box game. Lots of people are gonna miss that guy. You can tell through all those video interviews he was a genuinely good person. Always a sad day when the world loses a someone like that.
F U Loser Says:
Yo weatherman, eat $hit and die.
He has done nothing special? He turned a clothing company out of his car to a 100+ million dollar a year enterprise.
What did you do with your life? Become a weatherman? That is a JOKE of a job...
PS- 2012 is a joke, anyone that believes it is a RETARD...oh wait, that would be weatherman2012. F U LOSER
Knightrida Says:
I liked that slo-mo bro hug from Mike Straka to Skyscrapa and Punkass in the beginning. That shit was deep man.
Lower Case Larry Says:
Fighters are all uneducated and come from trailer parks anyway. Glad they had someone to look up to for awhile.
Anonymous Says:
No matter if you liked him or not he was driving a 300,000 Ferrari (and Punkass drives a Lambo) and part of a multi-million dollar company so to say he did NOTHING you should be kicked in the teeth I bet your wearing his clothes now wanting to be a fighter now
