[VIDEO] Full UFC 154: St. Pierre vs. Condit Press Conference

(“Don’t worry, Carlos, I’ll let you hold a real belt for a minute after this photo op is over.”)

Earlier today, the UFC held its official press conference to announce the long awaited showdown between welterweight “champion” Georges St. Pierre and “interim champion” Carlos Condit at UFC 154. And we may have had to do some regrettable things for this guy in a parking lot to get it, but we’ve managed to snag the full video of the press conference for your viewing entertainment.

Join us after the jump to hear Condit and GSP engage in a good old fashioned battle of politeness. Seriously, GSP is so nice that he even declares Condit to be the true champion at one point. Condit tries to fire back by stating that St. Pierre is ”the best in the world,” but one does not simply ”out-nice” a Canadian.

Man, if GSP didn’t have it in him to break that “nice guy” Dan Hardy’s arm when given the opportunity, we might be in for the first double DQ via Kalib Starnesian backpedaling in UFC history come UFC 154. Only time will tell, I guess.

I love how all the keyboard badasses will say Condit ran the whole fight when a fucking boxer was walking at him trying to hit him in the face. Last time I checked, the guy who deals the most damage wins. Lyoto Machida strikes and moves, and he is heralded as one of the hardest guys to fight because of it. No one really calls him a bitch, talking about how he runs from fights. It's executing a game plan...while not always the most exciting thing to watch, it is what it is. How many of you fuckers would stand toe to toe with a boxer with a granite chin? None, that's how many....because it's futile to do so.

With that said, GSP will offer a greater challenge to Condit's skill set. GSP is normally the bigger, stronger fighter....but that won't exactly be the case here. Condit is a worker, and he will try to out work GSP. We all believe coming in to this fight that GSP will go back to is typical lay and pray tactics like he normally does against strikers...won't work with Condit. Or he can treat him like he did Shields and keep him at bay with jabs and kicks....won't work against Condit. Great strength can be countered by good jiu-jitsu skill, and dynamic striking is countered by dynamic striking.

In the end, Condit wins this fight in either a grind, or he'll be able to catch GSP in his ring rust......and the rematch will be even better.

I've watched this fight so many times i know it inside and out really well and it's a very unique nuanced fight when it comes to how it should have been scored. diaz had the clear obvious advantage in aggression and octagon control throughout the entire fight, which does factor into scoring, how big of a factor that is in the scoring is subjective, but for this fight i fealt like it should have carried a lot of weight for two reasons 1. the discrepancy between who was the more aggresive fighter pushing the action was SO clear and apparent through the entire fight and 2. the reason this fight was so close and difficult to score is because not a lot of significant damage was dealt either way, and the reason not a lot of damage was dealt to either fighter was because one of the fighters was timid and moving backwards throughout the fight. that needs to factor into the scoring. diaz was clearly the much more aggressive fighter, and the factor of aggression carried an exceptional amount of weight in this fight due to how condits lack of aggression effected the result of the fight.

then when it comes to evaluating the striking, nick landed the better strikes in the first two rounds pretty clearly. the third was a little closer, but nick was still landing the better strikes. the fourth condit clearly won. the beginning of the fifth was close, but condit had a slight edge until with about 1:30 left diaz scored a takedown, and took condits back, which was probably the most significant thing that happened in the fight, and it also happened right at the end of the fight. he stayed on his back until there was about 8 seconds left and then he switched to the arm and went for an armbar, as time was expiring condit escaped the armbar and nick rolled and attacked a leg. that was how the fight ended.

based on that i think nick has to win. he wins the first two and fifth and maybe the third. he definitely gets three rounds in there somehow. the fight was really close. but the reason the fight was close was because condit was so timid. because condits timidity caused the fight to be so close, the deciding factor in the fight should have been that nick was the clear definitive aggressor throughout. aggression needed to factor into the scoring in this fight. condit made significant damaging exchanges pretty much impossible by running away, and landed a high volume of strikes that did little to no damage, that's not criteria for winning a fight, that's hardly even fighting at all. in pride that would've received a yellow card, and they should call timidity in the ufc when guys do that.

Jones sure thought he was operating at a higher level when he was piloting his spaceship towards the light of a supernova - unfortunately, it turned out he was only steering his Rolls into a telephone pole. Operating at a "higher" level indeed, Nippletwist.

I watched the Diaz/Condit fight with my room mate who, unless anderson is fighting, will rarely bother coming downstairs to watch one. During the last 2 rounds we were both saying "diaz better do something or he's going to lose". Both myself, the hardcore fan, and my roomate, the uninterested novice, were impressed by Condit's stick and move and both of us expected his hand to be raised. I wanted diaz to win too. Stalking forward and getting kicked in the legs and face doesn't win fights.

I love how doing nothing to win the fight save for complaining becomes acceptable when Nick Diaz does it. If the dude would have ever bothered to learn how to wrestle, he wouldn't have to bitch when people won't stand in front of him like punching bags, he could actually take them to the ground and submit them. Really, who the fuck wants a moral victory if it means people like Nippletwist are agreeing with you?
Nippletwist- September 28, 2012 at 10:42 am
doing nothing to win the fight? like running away for five rounds and hoping for a decision? nick was the aggressor and the one pushing the pace the whole time, he was the only one doing anything to win the fight. the only reason he doesn't take guys down is because he knows he can beat them standing like he did to condit. and actually with his first and only takedown attempt he got condit down quickly and easily and took his back in seconds, so yeah he can take people down and he did. per usual you're wrong about everything and nothing you say makes any sense.
Stak40- September 28, 2012 at 8:32 am
I love how "running like a bitch" becomes acceptable when certain fighters do it. The population that subscribes to Condits "running" as a smart game plan are either hanging off of Condits dick or GSPs dick. I think old GSP wrecks either of them. Current GSP only loses to Diaz. Don't get me wrong i like Condit but that shit was weak. Jon Fitch on the feet type bull shit.

"we might be in for the first double DQ via Kalib Starnesian backpedaling in UFC history come UFC 154"

ugh god you may be right.
Casa de los pantelones- September 28, 2012 at 8:05 am
Condit pwned Diaz, plain and simple. Diaz not only lost via the judges, he also lost by his own means of gauging a fight...the fighter with the most battered face loses. That's straight out of the 209 rules for winning a fight handbook. So he not only lost once, but twice. There is this thing that one can do to move faster, rather than walk and stalk...it's called pick up the pace motherfucker and stop crying. Diaz walked around the ring and kept getting tagged in the face, over and over again.
Imnotamoose- September 28, 2012 at 7:56 am
These Kalib Starnes comments regarding Carlos Condit are beyond idiotic. Condits fight against Diaz was nothing like what Kalib pulled. Carlos did a great job nullifying Diazs predictable "walk at you in a straight line" offense and it's not his fault Diaz had no plan B. There is a big difference between "fighting smart-Condit" and "I don't wanna fight at all-Starnes".

Just curious, if Condit stuffs GSPs takedowns all fight (not very likely) will people call him a pussy for being scared to go to the ground with him?

In my opinion Condit is one of the most exciting WWs to watch and has an insanely high finishing ratio. 26 out of his 28 victories via finish, split 50/50 between subs and ko's.
Nippletwist- September 28, 2012 at 7:42 am
or hes smart enough to know how to sell a fight instead of this boring nice guy shit. you're just too simple to understand and operate on his level. he gets his opponents mad too, which makes the fight better. we've grown accustomed to seeing gsp go into fights coasting to a decision and playing it safe. when's the last time we saw georges go into a fight pissed off looking to really lay down a beating on his opponent? that's what i want to see and that's what diaz delivers.
RearNakedSpoon- September 28, 2012 at 4:12 am
Take it easy on Nippletwist, he most likely didn't have a strong male role model when growing up to show him how real gentlemen act and socialise. It's good to see a UFC with some classy champions again.

what a stupid comment re: backpedaling...Condit has torn apart all of his competition...the only "Slow" fight he had was against Diaz...and it was the right move...he won.
j-rocv- September 27, 2012 at 6:13 pm
Gsp was awesome, when he use to fight to end fights. Lately his fights r extremely boring. And as for condit I use to enjoy all his fights, he usually comes to fight. But it really bugged me when he ran from nick Diaz for five rounds and some how won, go figure. Nick Diaz is the rightful intern champ.
2Dogs- September 27, 2012 at 6:07 pm
These two guys are great, everytime GSP says "oppochunitie"...drink....thanks cp.

Actually nipples, if Diaz was there. Oh wait he's suspended because a sober breath is impossible for mumbles.
Maybe him and tooney are hanging out destroying English further.

Fighters don't have time to practice something they're not. So we're stuck with shit for brains Jones for the time being.

The "real winner" being Condit...?
Nippletwist- September 27, 2012 at 4:50 pm
yeah that's what i meant.
Nippletwist- September 27, 2012 at 3:46 pm
if the real winner of diaz/condit was at this press conference this would actually be worth watching. then again he probably wouldn't have even shown up :/

Reminds me of when two guys "playfully" punch each other in the arm, saying "No, you're the best!" And it slowly escalates...
