Video: Johny Hendricks’s 46-Second Knockout of Martin Kampmann at UFC 154

(Props: Fox Sports/FUEL TV)

For those who missed the fights on Saturday, here’s another look at Johny Hendricks‘s devastating knockout of Martin Kampmann, which earned “Bigg Rigg” a $70,000 Knockout of the Night check, cemented him as the likely #1 contender in the UFC welterweight division, and saved the UFC 154 main card from a long night of decisions. The 46-second KO increased Hendricks’s win streak to five, with his last three victories coming against Jon Fitch (via 12-second KO), Josh Koscheck (via split-decision), and now this smash-up of Martin Kampmann.

On yesterday’s edition of the Verbal Submission radio show, Hendricks stated that he won’t take another fight before getting his title shot, even if reigning champion Georges St. Pierre decides to fight Anderson Silva in his next appearance. Judging from GSP’s non-committal post-fight interview with Joe Rogan on Saturday, squaring off against the Spider doesn’t really seem to be a priority for him. UFC fans may want to see GSP in a champion vs. champion catchweight superfight against Silva, but if St. Pierre decides to remain in his division for now, there’s at least one challenger who could give him a hell of a match. (Hint: It’s the bearded dude with the magical death-fists.)

Why do I see a video of a whaleshark when I click on the embedded video. Don't get me wrong, they're majestic and everything, but I'd like to see guys punching each other instead...

MM, exactly. Kampman has huge bad habit of this, and Hendricks other big calling card is Fitch declaring he will be more entertaining. Chin check? Check.

Still, I don't see this magic path to #1, I'd like to see him in a war, and much as I'm not a fan, maybe Diaz.
Remember this, Semtex had the same hype, except he screwed it up when frustrated by Kos, Hendricks just out worked. He wouldn't out work Gsp.

I mean Johnny Hendricks dicknail blah blah blah... what the fuck is this "The Hottest Columbian Girls on Earth", The Hottest Venezuelan Girls on Earth", and "Back to School Time" trifecta of awesomeness? How the hell is anybody supposed to get any commenting done around here?

PS- I like me some Kampmann but the dude has to change his habit of getting chin checked by the heaviest strikers inside of the first minute of the first round of every fight he gets in.

Pantelones gsp in traning takes guys much bigger then him down all the time with ease

I agree with everything vimxs said i mean ppl really seem like they have never seen gsp takedown or anderson getting taken down

As much as I like Hendricks, I don't see how he beats GSP. I think the big left hand will be a non-factor. St. Pierre just plain and simple, rarely gets hit hard. I personally am one that does not think GSP has a great chin. See exhibit Serra and exhibit Condit kick. He just doesn't get hit much. And before you all point to pictures of his face after this last fight, keep in mind that most of the damage was done on the ground while he was on top and a few shots in the 3rd round.

Are we forgetting that the guy with the "magical death fists" also barely squeaked by Josh Koscheck, a dude GSP has spanked on two separate occasions?

Fuckin Hendricks said at the post fight presser that he has "cleaned out the WW division"...which is some bullshit. Not that I dont think he should get his shot, but I dont agree that hes "cleaned out the division" either. Condit's expression when he said that was pretty amusing as well.

GSP does not like to get hit. Fighting Silva would mean he has to face his biggest fear...of getting hit. Silva would toy with pointless of a fight. A guy who walks around at 220 vs a guy who might walk around at 185 ish...they have weight divisions for a reason. I think GSP is too lean to do any moving up or down. I wanna see hendricks get his shot. He can perhaps out wrestle St. pierre and there is no question about his power. You can't abandon your title defenses when there are perfectly viable challengers still in the mix.
Kaboom82- November 19, 2012 at 7:15 am
GSP should probably fight silva before he gets ko'd by hendricks. he risks the superfight pay day by fighting anyone else.
Maximals Beast Mode- November 19, 2012 at 6:48 am
It's called exaggerating.
Mr_Misanthropy- November 19, 2012 at 3:08 pm
GSP lookin like Semmy Schilt on horse meat.
BaghdadBob- November 19, 2012 at 6:26 am
@Maximals: Looks like Anthony Johnson only if you knock off 4 inches of height and corresponding flesh and bone
Maximals Beast Mode- November 19, 2012 at 6:19 am
Silva is too big? Did you see GSP? He's looking like Anthony Johnson
BaghdadBob- November 19, 2012 at 6:15 am
It would be stupid-as-fuck for GSP to agree to fight Silva. He'd have very, very little chance of winning that fight. Silva is just too big. And besides whether it's stupid or not - it's not going to happen. So get over it.
vimxs1- November 19, 2012 at 10:40 am
If Chael Sonnen can take Silva down and ground and pound him for four and a half rounds, I promise you that GSP can! Saying that GSP would have little chance of winning that matchup makes it sound like you have never seen either of them fight!
