Video: Mainstream Media Continues to F*ck It Up When Dealing With MMA

After UFC officials swung through New York yesterday to hype up their commitment to bring MMA to New York state, local media outlets were forced once again to confront the question: "What’s Mixed Martial Arts, anyway? It’s that human-dogfighting stuff where you get to hit each other in the balls, right?" Seriously, listen to the opening narration in this New York Post news feature. At the 1:04 mark, Frankie Edgar specifically explains that groin-shots are illegal in MMA, but I guess that wasn’t enough to convince the person writing copy for this report. Unless the reporter was referring to leg kicks…but come on, how much credit do you really want to give these people?

My favorite part of the video is when they give equal time to people who support MMA, and people who have no fucking idea what it is. "I know that what they’re trying to say is that, what they want to do is put two different styles together," says the time-traveler who just arrived here from the year 1993. I guess you can’t claim to be unbiased unless you give voice to the informed and the ignorant…

This campaign of MMA in NY is gettin really fuckin old. Tryin to get these people to understand the sport isn't human cockfighting is like tryin to get a 3 year old to stop shittin his pants, deep down they know goin on the toilet is the right thing to do but they refuse to accept the change. Let these cocksmokin politicians be the last to regulate the sport so they can look even more retarded than they already do.(lookin at you Bob Reilly) Eventually they'll realize there is no sane reason not to regulate it. In the meantime, the sport is regulated in 44 other states that would love to be guaranteed 2 shows/year. Work on makin that happen.

All kidding aside the people in NY are intelligent people and I am sure they will embrace this sport the same as any other state has. But in the meantime, there will be a grace period of stupidity and down right retarded views expressed by the Ill-informed, biased, sensationalized media. they are just looking for good print. They can't sell papers reporting the actual facts so they look for a slant that will.....douch-bags that they are.

That reporter, by the way, was the same woman who asked how UFC can ensure that there will be no serious injuries now that they've added punching and kicking to martial arts. I could not be shitting you less.

It's not the whole North East ..... Massachusetts loves mma , tons of small events all the time. The nexus of retardation seems to be New York ... which really doesn't make any sense at all considering the fucked up shit that goes on in NYC every day. I have lived in that huge cesspit of a city and it's like a mad fucking max movie .

NYC not welcoming mma is like a hooker that will let you piss in her mouth but draws the line at taking a facial. It just doesn't make sense.
