Video: Michael Bisping Gets Ready for the Axe Murderer

Michael Bisping is less than two weeks away from what could either be his greatest triumph or his ugliest beatdown — a match against legendary fighter Wanderlei Silva at UFC 110 (February 20th; Sydney, Australia). The latest installment of Bisping’s video blog shows him handling the usual press obligations and keeping sharp at the Wolfslair in preparation for the battle. Skip to 4:06 for a rare sighting of Rampage Jackson outside of a movie set. As for Bisping’s expectations for the Silva fight, the Count recently wrote that Wandy reminds him of another old rival:

Stylistically, the fight may be similar to the one I had with Chris Leben in October 2008. Leben was a tough, aggressive guy with some highlight reel knockouts on his record and he really brought the fight to me. He also throws similarly wild and looping punches to Wanderlei. I had to use my speed and straighter punches to beat Leben and the same thing may come into play with Wanderlei. I’d say Wanderlei is a bit quicker and more explosive than Leben overall. Obviously the game plans won’t be the same, but in terms of style there are definite similarities between the two of them. I’m not going to fight Wanderlei the way I did Leben, but I may draw on my fight with Leben to help me beat Wanderlei.

Has Wanderlei Silva fallen so far that one could realistically describe him as a more-explosive Chris Leben? Damn, that’s a depressing thought. Silva has lost five of his last six fights, with his only win coming against Keith Jardine in May 2008 — but the guys that have beaten him were all legends and former champions. If the Axe Murderer loses this one, there will no longer be any doubt that the game has passed him by. Will he smash the Brit and redeem himself, or are we about to see Wandy’s last stand? Your thoughts, please.

Man, some of you guys need to grow some thick skin. You act like Bisping is the biggest asshole in the MMA world when there are guys like Tito, Junie and War Machine out there. I bet some of you pansies literally and awkwardly cry tears of joy and shake awkwardly in front of your friends and family when your favorite fighters win.

And yes, Silva must win this and return to the Pride Wandy we all want to see.

Wand needs to use his thaiclinch more the way he did in Pride.
Havent seen alot of thaiclinch in his apperances in the UFC.

Ahhhh... nothing like a healthy bit of British prejudice on a Tuesday morning.

I think this could be a good fight. Bisping did well against Kang after being KTFO'd by Henderson and regardless of Wanderlei's recent losses, his cardio is top notch and if it goes all the way I think Wanderlei will take the decision.

I'd like to see Bisping win though. He might be slightly stupid (hey, he's an MMA pro! What do you expect? Not everyone can be like Rich Franklin...) but he's still a fellow Brit and he's promoted the sport in the UK.

The only thing Bisping needs to do to get ready to face Silva is prepare his will. Wand isn't nearly as far gone as he woudl need to be for Bisping to have a chance here. Just like vs. Hendo, he is just outmatched, and highlight reel fodder.

Hate hate hate to say it but I think Bisping can take this one by boring ass decision, just think Wandy has lost that little bounce to his step and it'll allow Bisping to keep outside his range and just do the bare minimum to ensure he gets the points win.....But God I hope Wandy proves my dumb ass wrong and we see a vintage Axe Murderer massacre of old!!!

Kang managed to drop Bisping, so I believe that Wanderlei can and will do the same. Only this time, he'll have the composure to finish it instead of gas and have victory slip through his fingers.

So bisping is unpopular? wow thanks for the informative posts..I'm Irish so I hate brits more than anyone but if ya think wandy has a shot your mad...simple as that..he was hand picked to make Bisping look good...bisping will land his best, and probably only decent weapon, the straight right when Wandy drops his shoulder for the left hook.
It the same situation with Chuck, Wandy ALWAYS took shots..but his ability to absorb them seriously diminished , look at your old pride dvds and look at the punishment he could take, not just take but counter immediately that's why he was so dangerous...no training camp can regain that

I'm probably the only non-UK, hardcore MMA fan who genuinely likes Bisping. I also love Wandy. But I think Wandy will win, hopefully the loser won't look too bad on this one.

I gotta admit, Silva dropping 5 of his last 6 is not good. But I hope to hell he "Jardines" Bisping into a living death!

I know you can do better than to be represented by Bisping and Hardy-Har-Har! I'm just as game as the next "bloke" to see the UFC do well in England. But PLEASE....isn't there a better representative?

I'm seriously having a hard time picking this one. Wandy is the classier fighter that's past his prime, Bisping has some good stick and move.

UFC in my country for the first time, and I'll be there with bells on!

I dont mind watching Bisping but i really like Wandy! And he needs this win!

The Axe Detailer may have lost 5 bouts, but the competitors were Rich Franklin, Quinton Jackson, Chuck Liddell, Dan Henderson and Mirko Filipovi?... none of wich this limey would stand a change against.
