Video: UFC 129 Weigh-In Highlights

(Props: MMAFighting)

Weigh-ins for UFC 129: St-Pierre vs. Shields went down yesterday at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto, with all 24 fighters making weight. Well, basically. Ben Henderson hit the scales at 156.5, and was given an hour to lose that extra half-pound, which he did. Bendo didn’t look too happy being on the scale in the first place; the tough cut might be a factor in his fight against Mark Bocek. Later, Mark Hominick‘s weight was announced at 145.25. There is no one-pound allowance for UFC title fights, but the match was OK’d anyway. Possible explanations include miscommunication and the overly trusting nature of Canadians.

In other weigh-in weirdness, Lyoto Machida brought Steven Seagal with him during his face-off against Randy Couture (you can find a rather amazing photo of that moment after the jump), and Ivan Menjivar showed up with a Wolverine claw that definitely didn’t look like it came from a toy store. Just seemed kind of unsafe, that’s all.

Come back to CagePotato.com tonight for live results from the UFC 129 broadcast; remember, Spike TV prelims start at 8 p.m. ET, and the pay-per-view starts at 9.

Damn, Randy's starting to look like Mark Coleman. He's dropped a lot of muscle mass in the last few years. Makes me wonder if he's been juicin'. And who the fuck invited Count Dracula to the weigh-ins?

^ Yeah, turning me into an alcoholic, prelims kick off 10:00am local time, I'm gonna be drunk off my ass by lunchtime

Wow. I had no idea Rogan could be such a douche.

It was Dumb and Dumber "wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?" all over again.

Seagal looks smoked the fuck out in that pic.
logdog52- April 30, 2011 at 12:22 pm
Seagal is probably there because he knows how to use those strange mind powers that helped Big Foot beat Fedor. He can't break his eye contact with Randy or it won't work.
dranokills- April 30, 2011 at 12:21 pm
I'd like to see Steven Seagal fuck someone up, to bad he's to old to fight professionally.
I still think as much as some of you guys think hes a clown, he would still fuck some people up, unlike some other so called martial arts legends, Seagal is for real.
parchy mcthirst- April 30, 2011 at 11:50 am
Well played photobombing by Seagal
macreadysshack- April 30, 2011 at 10:28 am
Seagal looks fucking awesome.
macreadysshack- April 30, 2011 at 10:27 am
Okay, okay, GSP's ASS and QUAD/HAMMIES are huge for 170. Is that more accurate?

Randy weighed in at 203.5 so I assume he has a strategy that involves being quick and light. I don't think it has anything to do with old man time - Couture has WAYS of gaining muscle that defy the old man. I think he just knows he's going to need to be fast and explosive to close on Machida.

Jake shields torso looks really long.
RSparrow- April 30, 2011 at 10:11 am
My prediction: GSP runs through shields almost as an embarrassment and CP writes an article tomorrow how there is absolutely no one left for GSP to fight, and that a run to 185 is inevitable. RWilson, I thought the same thing with Couture, but he will still be able to dry hump Machida against the cage, and eventually get him down.
RwilsonR- April 30, 2011 at 10:00 am
Randy is looking small, and like he is losing muscle mass.
I don't know about the Shields/GSP weight cuts, but Shields is always very big for 170, and he looks bigger than GSP. Unscientifc, I know, but I never get the "GSP is huge for 170" crowd when Alves and Fitch both made him look small.
knucklesamitch- April 30, 2011 at 8:23 am
I watched the weigh-in's with my own eyes on HDNet, but I swear the Seagal pic looks photoshopped.

Reportedly GSP cut 22lbs. That got me thinking it could affect his performance, the whole business about jumping to 185 could interfere with his title defense at 170....

He's been doing it for awhile but this may be the most weight he has cut. Shields cut from 189 supposedly but then again he's use to cutting from heavier weights.

I hope it doesn't affect him but that is a substantial amount. I just hope GSP finish Shields in impressive fashion and then Nick DIAZ goes crazy and Demands a title fight right then and there as he consule Shields LOL.
Payday- April 30, 2011 at 7:32 am
Joe Rogan could never go to a library...
RearNakedSpoon- April 30, 2011 at 7:12 am
Shields clearly had a much better cut this time. He was more active after weighing in last time, but that was only because he so happy to make weight he celebrated it with Burt Watson.
Still Shields has no hope of keeping up with GSP's riddum. GSP is going to use Shields as a balance beam ;)
intercept440- April 30, 2011 at 7:05 am
in other news, go up to the first picture and look at rogan.... looks like he wants to skullfuck shields to death
intercept440- April 30, 2011 at 7:04 am
bahhh stevey is just a novelty at this point, he teaches lyoto and anderson silva aikido, thats the only reason he is there, he riding the coat tails of others
Mongrel- April 30, 2011 at 5:47 am
This Steven Seagal business needs to stop.
