Taking a page out of Jay Glazer and Randy Couture‘s MMAAthletics playbook, the UFC has begun producing a weekly web show, aptly dubbed "Ultimate Insider."
The video above is the first episode of the Joe Rogan and Arianny Celeste hosted show, which although it doesn’t have the obvious feel of an infomercial that MMAAthletics (which, not by coincidence, shares its name with a Couture-Glazer P90-X-like fitness program) is a pretty slick little production overall.
This episode features behind the scenes footage of UFC 116, a one-on-one with perpetually difficult interview Forrest Griffin, a sit down Q&A between Rogan and fast-rising light heavyweight Jon Jones and behind the scenes footage of a Celeste Las Vegas photo shoot.
One of the most inadvertently entertaining moments of the segment came at the expense of Chris Leben.
A few minutes removed from his UFC 116 submission victory over Yoshihiro Akiyama, "The Crippler" is shown talking to one of his cornermen on his way back to his dressing room, when the coach mentions something about him winning in the third round. A genuinely surprised and strike-weathered Leben stops in his tracks and asks for clarification, believing he’s being blatantly lied to.
"Didn’t I tell you I’d win in the second round?" Leben asks his trainer.
"It was the third round," his coach responds.
"THIRD ROUND?" Leben asks turning around to face the bullshitter, thinking he’s punking him.
"It doesn’t get more Rocky than that," his cornerman replies, as another handler claps a hand on his back to calm the irate fighter.
