The big misconception is that Japan has better fighters... With the exception of Rampage and The Spider, fighters from making careers in Japan haven't faired all that well in the Cage. And I think Mir will beat Big Nog. Honestly, I'm not sure Fedor wants any part of the cage either. Why would he? He gets UFC leftovers like Tim and keeps his name on top of the Heavyweight list..
The dude Sergie fought was a giant JOKE!
Totally agree about the dog collar.. Pure "happy" if you know what I mean...

Thanks a ton for uploading these fights. With no cable tv I don't get to see many bouts until I find a torrent and wait a week for it to complete. Great night of fights and yes the only thing DREAM needs is a cage or anything other than a ring. Separate yourselves from boxing and pro wrestling and invest in a cage and a geometrical shape. UFC's DREAM's rhombus!

The top 4 marquis fight don’t include a single “white North American”, unless you count Cote, who is Canadian.

Jugger for your information canada is part of north america so yes that is why you would count him, just becuase he is from canada wouldn't make him an exception to this rule

bang bang ping, hello, break the arm.

then smash the head, ga-dang ga-dang ga-dang

Jugger, I was being sarcastic, because many people criticize the UFC for basically just pushing North American fighters (which used to be more true). I was just trying to point out that even if their international base isn't what it could be, I believe they represent a better model to follow for MMA in the future, with respect to things like the cage design, the lack of clothing options (does that sound gay?).

mmmiles says,

"The UFC might be full of white North Americans..."

That's mostly a misconception. I mean, look at UFC 89. Jardine, Leben, and Lytle are the only "white North Americans" in the 4 marquis fights. You got Vera, Soko, Bisping, Cane, and Taylor that don't meet that criteria. UFC 90: The top 4 marquis fight don't include a single "white North American", unless you count Cote, who is Canadian. You got Anderson, Diego, Thiago Alves, Werdum etc. etc. etc.

The UFC is evolving. It's not just about Chuck and Randy anymore. Big Nog and Anderson (Brazilians) have belts. St. Pierre has a belt (Canadian). BJ Penn has a belt and he's American, but very proud of his Hawaiian decent. Sure, there are a lot of American white dudes who fight in the UFC, especially on the undercards, but that's to be expected because they need cannon fodder. Pride, Heros, and now Dream all use Japanese guys to round out their cards. Nobody complains.

I'm not saying the UFC is MMA's "international stage" but it's stigma of being a white boy's club is quickly fading. News that their branching out to Mexico and Puerto Rico strengthen that argument.

mmmiles is right -- mma requires a better fighting area than a ring, and a cage is the best option right now.

wtf, crocop -- wild boys? there's this new thing called hip hop, and some of it can sound pretty tough -- you might want to listen to a few tracks and see how it changes the feel of your entrance.

i LOVE the video-game style breakdown of the fighters' abilities... those bar graphs are great.

is that bas rutten doing some announcing on these fights? he sounds like pickles the drummer for dethklok.

The fighting is great and all, but I don't care for the long drawn out entrances.

Great fights, always great to watch talented fighters and genius subs.

However, it always reminds me of what I hated about Pride/K-1/DREAM. The ring is retarded, pauses and stoppages because fighters get caught up in it is just silly. And wearing a gi, or any kind of clothing that might provide an advantage, just makes no sense.

The UFC might be full of white North Americans, and could seriously use some injections of talent like you find in Japan, but honestly.... tradition is all well and good but UFC style MMA is more of an even playing field (elbows or head stomp rules aside).

im just glad aoki didnt cry
ChessFighter- September 22, 2008 at 5:24 pm
Now that is what you call a show. I stayed up for 5 hours watching 12 fights. Most of which was very exciting. This just validated my beliefs that the UFC and U.S. MMA in general needs a lot of work.
I'm so happy for Aoki. Who is one of my favorite fighters.
And Cro Cop who is getting old was getting smashed. If Overeem didn't kick his nuts into his abdomen, he would have lost. Cro Cop is trash without his Cro Cop kick. I Hope to see a Fedor vs. Overeem fight on new years eve.
NealTaflinger- September 22, 2008 at 5:09 pm
Not so into Manhoef's gay S&M entrance. Maybe the dog collar and leash means something else in Holland.
vv- September 22, 2008 at 5:01 pm
Overeem was having a good fight but he laid out 3 ball kicks in less than one full round. 2 times he took cro-cop down it was over a ball kick and then a throw. That is not fair at all. Overeem needs to learn how to actually fight before he deserves to fight someone like Cro-Cop. Lot of potential tho, big guy.
mayhem420- September 22, 2008 at 4:35 pm
Ok so the ref kinda did the nut cup check but not realy.....
Still Cro-Cop was getting beat up pretty bad untill those nut crushers.
Also whats up with the Back to the Future vest? Did Alister think he was going on a boat or something?
