This is the "video evidence" referred to in the Jackson camp’s official response to the NSAC regarding B.J. Penn’s greasing allegations. Here we get to see the witchdoctor-approved breathing technique without all the fancy editing that Penn employed to make it look worse. We also get to see it in other contexts, such as the GSP-Jon Fitch fight, the B.J. Penn-Sean Sherk fight, and backstage while GSP is wearing a t-shirt. Makes you think they have a pretty strong case that it was all just an accidental screw-up by Phil Nurse.

I used to dye my hair a lot and would often use vaseline around my forehead to protect the skin from being colored as well........ Here's a few things about vaseline (Go ahead, make the easy joke)
1. Vaseline does not simply wipe off with the stroke of a towel.
2. When mixed with water, it becomes super slick.
3. It takes very little, such as the residue on a hand that was covered in it, to be effective in covering the skin.
BJ Penn has a strong case when he says it affected his grappling. During the fight I mentioned to my friends that I was amazed at how BJ couldn't keep his guard up, or even more amazed at how GSP was passing it. I had no knowledge of the Vaseline then, but it was definitely noticeable when you watch the fight again after looking for it.
When BJ got rocked in the 2nd trying to establish rubber guard, the fight was pretty much over. GSP is a great fighter, but his corner clearly gave him an edge. To me it's not even debatable.

There's no better way to refute cheating allegations than to reference someone else that uses the same techniques. It would probably be smart to look for somebody who has established a positive public image; someone whose ethics or morality would never come into question.

Well, I don't think the breathing technique was in question...we had all seen it before.
The part that's f'd is that the same guy that is doing the technique is the same guy that just put vaseline all over him...
I don't think anyone was saying that he had never done the breathing technique before or that it was made up in order to apply the vaseline... So, I'm not sure what that's proving exactly.
Do I think it made a difference? No
Does that mean it's perfectly okay and the Jackson camp shouldn't own up to it? No
Whether intentional or not, what happened between rounds should not have occurred and while GSP may be without fault, his camp absolutely isn't. (Phil Nurse was a fighter before a trainer, so I REALLY don't understand this could have been completely unintentional...If you just had vaseline on your hands, you know it).
Realistically, if GSP has been greasing (I'll withold commentary...), this isn't the method he would be using.
