If you want to watch an unskilled fight, you can go buy those old classless “Bumfights” videos that used to be produced. If you want someone who isn’t just throwing wild blows, and who does so with sound technique, Machida is very good.

Machida’s record is 13-0 with 3 Tko’s 2 subs and 8 decision’s 8!!!!! out of 13 wins went the distance.

his last TKO win was on 4/29/06 OVER 2 YEARS AGO!!!

you talk about his knockout of RF being so cool that was about 4 1/2 years ago.

if you really like a fighter who does nothing but circles and counters his opponent over and over again with the random take down and body kick thrown in then he is your man. I do have respect for his speed and striking ability but really nothing else, landing more jabs and running from opponents (i call it running cause he has no head movement he just back pedals when attacked) might win you fights but who wants to pay 50 bucks a ppv to see a fight headlined by someone who fights like that? not me so sorry he may be a very skilled fighter but it doesn’t mean i have to pay to watch it

You can say Machido sucks at this….he sucks at that. He’s boring….or whatever. If you think that, then don’t watch him.
Just sit back and wait till he fights and dismantles your favorite fighter. Then you can cry even more.

Machida is the real deal, his only problem was people wanted to see him slug it out with Tito, which would be a horrible game plan, I don’t think they wanted Tito to win, they just wanted to see Tito crumpled in the cage, or crying ala-liddell. We’ll see how some of the fights go against a submission fighter though, he has amazing power for his size, so a Wandi/Jackson fight would be exciting, but the way Tito could have tapped him with a committed triangle, we would have seen another Ed Herman style end to a fight.

Franklin and Machida are pretty close in size, and Rich was the UFC champ before meeting A Silva. Tito had a size advantage as far as upper body strength, as did Soukodjou. Machida, like A Silva, is a counter-puncher and isnt just going to stand there and get punched in the face. There’s no reason to hate on this guy other than to just be a hater.

The Machida highlights really do show his lack of killer instinct. He hits with some great shots but then refuses to capitalise on any of them. Far too cautious. I really want to see the whole fight but from the high lights BJ Penn really looks like he was coming at him a lot, absorbing a lot of hits from a guy who is THREE weight divisions higher than him. Fedor got called all sorts of names when he fought Matt Lindland because he was lighter than him yet I haven’t heard the same thing from about Machida? A crazy Wanderlei would destroy him and teach him a lesson. If you score a good hit, hit your opponent again, and again until he falls. Don’t just try to score points.

What else does this guy have to do? Am I the only one that loved the fight against tito? He picked tito apart. He took him down. He had some nice kicks…some ground and pound…a vicious knee. Minus the last 20 seconds of the fight, he dominated tito. He is a smart fighter who has incredible timing. He cut open tito’s eye too.
The same people that call Lyoto boring probably call Floyd Mayweather boring too because he is elusive.
Maybe these people are looking for the “excitement” of a toughman competition.
