You know what sucks? We have to wait three whole weeks until Jon Jones and Brandon Vera headline the UFC’s first event on Versus (March 21st; Broomfield, Colorado). What the hell are we going to do in the meantime?(And don’t say "Volunteer at a soup kitchen"; this is no time for jokes.) In the above hype-videos, Bones promises fireworks against Vera, and says he’ll give the Truth a striking war if that’s what he wants. He also makes a dig at Vera’s well-known hubris, saying he’s not the kind of guy to call out Chuck Liddell after winning his first UFC fight; Bones has a black belt in humility, apparently. Brandon Vera is aware that Jones has been blowing through his opponents, but feels that he’s never fought anybody on Brandon’s level, and his chin hasn’t been tested yet. ("It’s really easy to be the hammer, but it’s hard to be the nail.") Anybody see Vera winning this one? Anybody?
After the jump: Georges St. Pierre sweats alongside Michael Phelps in a new ad for Under Armour. Let’s be thankful this wasn’t an ad for Reebok.

And your scenario, philippekchrun;you got it all wrong!
Jones won't have to strike to open Vera for a take down;Vera will open himself by "trying"those kicks!
Jon Jones's only been fighting for what...2 yrs!
Even if he loses,he's a future champs anyway! That I'm sure of!
He is a pure athlete, with a scary wrestling game;that's equal dynamite!I only saw him fight 2-3 times and I like him really much.
Vera relate to much on his muaï-thaï,Not that he is not good, but he is not as exiting as Jones is.
I can't wait for this fight, and I'll go with Jones for this one.
UFC cant keep them all.
Its true that he did have the momentum and the fury to go far for a hot second before his contract tantrum, but now its gone.
He misplaced it somewhere.
And there is no rule regarding things like that to guarantee he'll ever find it again.
If he loses this one too hopefully UFC will do him and everybody a favor by sending him down the road to do some soul searching because he's just not catching his wind in the kitchen.
His skills are all there, it's really just a question of intensity for him. Sometimes he just seems to have no killer instinct at all when he gets in the ring. But I actually think this is a very close fight in terms of the level these guys are respectively on.
Vera's striking is very technical. It'll be interesting whether Jones' unorthodox style translates against someone with Vera's kickboxing or if this time he's going to have to wrestle to win.
Maybe he's reinvented himself for this fight against Jones. Maybe he's found the drive and desire to crush an opponent that we've seen in the past. Maybe his good looking wife told him to stop looking like a chump or she's gonna drop him before DW does. Who knows.
The potential exists for Vera to do something impressive, but the potential is also there for Jones to impressively knock him the F out.
Yes Jones is awesome. Maybe he will murder Vera. Shit, sorry, I mean, maybe he will fight him so hard that he beats him very badly. But on paper it is not a huge stretch to say it would be a close fight or even to say Vera comes away with a W. We all know that the scenario on paper doesn't always play out (damn you Mike Swick), and all it takes is one little mistake, but Vera has pretty solid skills.

That commercial was awesome.
Biggest win was probably mir who anybody could beat on the right day, especially when he had just come back from that crash.
I remember the hype because he was steamrolling contenders in spectacular fashion for a second, but we never actually got to see the proof that he was really any better than good.
I dont know, I guess he makes a fair enough gatekeeper as long as he's not taking money out of the pockets of more valuable fighters.
hoepfully he wins
I know what you mean, when he destroyed Mir everyone on Earth was calling him the next best thing...I have no idea what the fuck happened though.
10 bucks on it.
It is still MMA, Vera still hits pretty damn hard, and he definitely has something to proove after the gift win given to Couture.
Obviously Jones is favored but i do not think by as much as you apparently think. Should not be a walk thru.
