CagePotato reader Facey sent us this rather sick-ass highlight video that he made, featuring some of the greatest MMA submissions ever, starring Shinya Aoki, Dustin Hazelett, "Jacare" Souza, Frank Mir, Rumina Sato, Anderson Silva (both giving and receiving), and both Diaz brothers. Easy-breezy soundtrack provided by Donavan.

In this promo clip for UFC 92, light-heavyweight champ Forrest Griffin discusses his opponent Rashad Evans and what challenges he might present. It’s clear that Griff isn’t underestimating Sugar whatsoever. As he says, "He’s got more knockouts than I do. And his knockouts have been impressive. Like, people-don’t-get-up-right-away knockouts." Speaking of Forrest Griffin, his September 2003 IFC fight with Chael Sonnen is after the jump, courtesy of MMA Scraps.

commentsforrest has some serious skill.
back in the day, maybe not, but now? definitely.
i mean, the fact that he beat Shogun [who was the best LHW in the world when he beat him] and Rampage [who was the best LHW in the world when he beat him] shows that he has skill.. and that's just aside from heart, determination, and perseverance.
One might say "well, Rashad beat Liddell, and i think Liddell would beat Forrest, so i think Rashad will beat Forrest"
that's stupid.
he beat liddell because liddell was chasing him around, with his hands at his waist.
jerry f'ing sienfield could've KO'd liddell that night..
i think Forrest WILL beat Rashad.. and he'll beat him with heart, and reach..
i think Rashad could probably take Forrest down.. a lot.. if he wanted to.. but, if you ask me, that's where forrest will be strongest.. Griffin does a good job of getting back to his feet, and if he can't, he can easily frustrate Evans with some submission attempts.. but, really, i think Rashad just wants to stand and strike now-a-days.. and he might just get picked apart this time around..
PS-
"Griffins "Lets go to the Judges" attack plan while at times effective could have him coming up short this time"
that's ridiculous..
i think forrest has only implimented that kind of plan ONCE in his career, against Ramirez.. because he was coming off a KO loss, and fighting a guy with some KO's on his record.. he wanted to play it slow and get a "w"..
in the Rampage fight, his plan was definitely to stay away, and not get hit as much, but i wouldn't call that a "lets go to the judges" strategy.. he did some serious damage on Rampage's leg that could've stopped the fight, and had him in a triangle at one point.. he definitely wanted to FINISH that fight..
I'm on the Evans bandwagon now. Forrest is swell but Rashad is gonna tweak his nips and jack him up.
Chael Sonnen looks good getting caught in subs.
This is reason number 4,000,000,000,000 that cagepotato is by far the best site for mma! Thanks guys!

I find it weird how people say... he isn't very skilled, but he does work hard. Skill isn't some pure genetic attribute that you either have or you don't. Hard work, tough competition, personal drive... all those things begin to translate into increased skill level.
Just listen to him talk about his opponent... compare how intelligently he breaks him down to the type of things we hear from other fighters (I'ma whoop his ass).
As long as people believe that all Forrest Griffin has going for him is his hard work and stamina, they'll continue to be surprised.
That said... I think Greg Jackson will have Evans ready for this one.
Should be good.
Thanks man. Good call on the music too.
Hhahahah. Nice ring presence announcer.
As for the Forrest/Evans fight, I believe Forrest will tear him up with leg kicks and finish it on the ground.
