Videos: Ridiculous Judo Armbar, An Army of Two

(Props: MMA Share)

This is one of those rare crazy armbars that works exactly like it was drawn up, and it’s pulled off by a judo guy, no less.  How often does that happen?  Probably a little more often where there’s a gi to hold on to and the guy you’re doing it on has more experience with throws than submissions, but we still think it’s pretty cool.  The throw that follows it is also not bad, as long as you don’t mind giving your back to your opponent as soon as you hit the mat.

You know what’s far less cool, though?  You will after the jump.

(Props: Simms on the UG)

Man, there are few things we love more than two guys making their own highlight reel of self-defense moves set to AC/DC songs.  It’s even better once they start working on how to disarm muggers and thugs armed with knives or guns.

The first thing to know is that it’s very important for these thugs to act like thugs in the movies.  Grabbing you by the shirt collar, holding the gun within arm’s reach of you, those are very important elements.  Also, when you take the gun away from the guy, go ahead and walk towards him with it so that you are then close enough for him to grab it away from you, thus beginning a never-ending circle.  After all, what good is a gun going to do you against an unarmed man who you stay several feet away from?

I'm Rex, founder of the Rex Kwan Do self-defense system! After one week with me in my dojo, you'll be prepared to defend yourself with the STRENGTH of a grizzly, the reflexes of a PUMA, and the wisdom of a man.

For the record, Judo was the style that BJJ came from...a few note's on Judo, as it seems people are so condescending towards it compared to BJJ. First off, Judo is a complete system, not just a style of ground fighting. 2nd, BJJ is part of Judo...a small part. 3rd... For all intents and purposes, Judo negates even the best BJJ, and in turn a true Judo master is going to dominate BJJ guys with little or no risk of getting submitted...don't act like BJJ isn't a cheap rip-off of Judo, it is...

Holy shit, is that Rampage announcing in the first video? His Japanese is superb. All that's missing is the "Knowhamsayin?"

I love that he bows to his punching bag.

"Aww, you gave me a tough fight, bag, you nearly had me there."

Sad thing is, I think the bag nearly did.

If I were AC/DC, I would hop on a jet, find these guys, and fuck them up real bad for using my song as a backdrop for a bunch of bullshit.

There are few skills more deadly than wasabi jitsu, you should feel honoured to have witnessed such a masterful display!

The first minute and a half looks like a really shitty tandem pro-wrestling try out video. Seriously, I think that retarded 720 degree roundhouse kick is Kofi Kingston's finishing move. Shit, even The Miz would be harder to hit than that dummy, let alone someone with a even a cursory knowledge of wrestling/tackling.

Wanna know how to stop a 5th Dan Taekwondo blackbelt from disarming you?

Pull the trigger.

Hasn't everyone seen this armbar already when Hazelett subbed Burkman?

So much goodness here: when faced by a larger attacker, leap over his head and smile like your boyfriend just proposed at the 0:38 mark; almost fall at 0:46; completely sell the weak, off-target kick at 0:56; after executing some of the worst combos in the history of martial arts, bow to the bag (!) at 1:13; miss the bag and fall at 1:19; get an Oscar for dropping in "agony" from the kick at 1:32; tap immediately to what I assume is an arm triangle at 2:10; chop the balls! at 2:30; hold still while I do this at 2:42; feel the wind from my knee at 2:57; wait I forgot to pull the trigger at 3:00; behold my gay gun pose at 3:10; insult Ali at 3:20.

More. Please?

If you want to know anything more about TKD, do yourself a favor and watch Foot Fist Way.

I so glad someone finally demonstrated the leapfrog attack, it works awesome if your attacker happens to be in a wheelchair, but make sure that they have the brake engaged first or you may end up going for a ride on their lap.
Squirrelnuts- September 1, 2009 at 5:08 pm
wabujitsu sounds like a pokemon.
Androiddrew- September 1, 2009 at 5:07 pm
The beginning of that second video was a display of the greatest leapfrog skills ever known to man.
