(For those of you wondering, now we know what happened to Color Me Badd)
Strikeforce held a press conference yesterday at the Toyota Center in advance of its August 21 event that will take place at the venue in Houston, Texas. Ben and I were both unable to attend since, well, neither of us wanted to, but thankfully KBME Sports Talk 790 was on hand to catch what we may have missed.
The videos are after the jump.
Former WWE heavyweight champion Bobby Lashley is first up, to talk about the "deep bone bruise" that has kept him out of action since his defeat over Wes Sims at Strikeforce: Miami in January and his desire to fight for the SF heavyweight title by year’s end.

Next up, Muhammad "King Mo" Lawal answers some lame questions by the interviewer who obviously didn’t read Ben’s piece about the 9 questions MMA reporters shouldn’t ask. Seriously. Starting a sentence with "Heavy is the head that wears a crown" and following up with a question about whether or not said crown is weighing on him in training for his upcoming fight with Feijao should have been met with a "What you talkin’ about, fool?" by King Mo.
Of interesting note is the fact that Lawal is bringing in a pair of wrestlers like Lashley and Rashad Evans to help him prepare for a dangerous striker like Rafael Cavalcante.

Gum-chomping, water chugging Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker is up next talking about how the show in Houston came about and explaining why the middleweight tournament fell through. He also reveals that lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez broke his hand in the Aoki fight and will likely be sidelined until at least the end of the year.

Last up is Tim Kennedy, talking about his upcoming Strikeforce middleweight championship bout with Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza. Kennedy Although the questions aren’t particularly inspired (Who are you training with?) the fact that he is spending some time with Greg Jackson is an interesting development.

Finally, here are the vids of the actual presser:
