Is there any fighter who more closely resembles the animal for which he is nicknamed than Thiago "The Pitbull" Alves?  Just looking at his face makes me want to lock the door and call Animal Control.  He says in this video that he’s been working out at Wanderlei Silva‘s new gym/daycare center in Las Vegas, and plans to return there the week before his title fight with Georges St. Pierre at UFC 100 to get his weight right.  Alves has had some weight issues in the past, and with a title fight he won’t get that extra pound allowance so he’d better be on point.  Something tells me that screwing up a title fight at UFC 100 would be a murderable offense in Dana White’s eyes.

Raw Vegas went by Xtreme Couture to talk with Kim Couture about her upcoming bout.  Am I the only one not buying it at all when she claims to be blissfully unaware of the criticism that suggests she’s only getting these opportunities because of who she’s married to?  Even if she doesn’t "go on the computer," the idea must have occurred to her that it’s not solely her 1-1 pro record that’s landing her on Strikeforce cards.  Whatever you think of Couture though, it’s nice to see a woman fighter slam "Cyborg" Santos’ woman trouble excuse.  It just doesn’t have the same force when we do it, for some reason.

Thiago is an animal, and I’ve been saying he was gonna stomp GSP for a while. 3rd round knockout is my official prediction.

I like Thiago for his fighting style and for his mentality, and also for how well spoken he is outside of the cage. He speaks very good english for a Brazillian, and that’s something I appreciate. It’s a peeve of mine that Anderson Silva has never learned enough english to even thank the crowd for coming out to see his (shitty, as of late,) performances. The UFC is an american company and atleast 90% of it’s viewers are english speakers, learn some fuckin’ english if you want to be one of my favorite fighters.

Anyways, Thiago has the timing to upset the riddum. If George doesn’t make a boring ass hug fest out of it, he’s fuckin’ goin’ down.

Good call on the Thiago Alves-Pitbull resemblance. I was thinking the same thing…
As much as I adore GSP and Gina, I fear for both of them in their upcoming bouts =/. Thiago hits extremely hard and I don’t know if GSP can handle that amount of power. GSP is awesome and well-rounded, but Thiago is a straight-up beast at 170. Hope GSP can use a good game plan against him. And beloved Gina…first let’s hope her and Cris come in at weight, and that Gina can take care of Cris the same way GSP I hope GSP will take care of Alves. Cyborg is a beast as well, like Alves. Aren’t they both from Brazil (Jiu Jitsu land), and yet these two are best known for their hardcore, powerful striking? These fights are going to be epic!
And I have to agree with Kim on this; Strikeforce isn’t as big as UFC, but damn am i pleased with their shows. They have a good thing going.
