UFC 142 Weigh-In Results [UPDATED]: Anthony Johnson Misses Weight by 12 Pounds

(UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo pictured with his summer intern, Chad.)

UPDATE: Yes, Anthony Johnson came in at 197 pounds. Gory details after the jump.

Weigh-ins for tomorrow night’s UFC 142: Aldo vs. Mendes event are scheduled to begin today at 4 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. PT in Rio. You can watch the action right here on, in either of the video players after the jump. We’ll also be posting the full weigh-in results after all 20 fighters have hit the scale. Will there be any disrespectful hat-smacking this time? How terrifying will Anthony Johnson look as a middleweight light-heavyweight? And will the huge broad on the right be replacing Chandella permanently? Stay tuned…

Jose Aldo (145) vs. Chad Mendes (144)
Vitor Belfort (186) vs. Anthony Johnson (197!!!)*
Mike Massenzio (184) vs. Rousimar Palhares (186)
Carlo Prater (170) vs. Erick Silva (169)
Edson Barboza (154) vs. Terry Etim (155)

Sam Stout (155) vs. Thiago Tavares (155)
Gabriel Gonzaga (250) vs. Ednaldo Oliveira (229)
Yuri Alcantara (145) vs. Michihiro Omigawa (146)
Ricardo Funch (170) vs. Mike Pyle (171)

Felipe Arantes (145) vs. Antonio “Pato” Carvalho (144)

* Well this is unfortunate. Anthony Johnson, who had struggled mightily with making the welterweight limit in the past — I mean, that was sort of the whole point of him going up to middleweight, right? — has missed weight for his co-headlining bout against Vitor Belfort. Ladies and gentleman, he missed it by 12 GODDAMNED POUNDS. Johnson seriously rolled in at a hulking 197 lbs. today in Rio, which led UFC president Dana White to blast him as “a total unprofessional.”

The Belfort camp has agreed to take the fight as scheduled, under one condition: Johnson must weigh in again tomorrow at 2 p.m. local time, and if he comes in at more than 205 pounds, the fight is off. As MMAFighting puts it, “this might be Johnson’s final fight in the UFC in any weight class.”

I guess we won’t be eating that dick today, huh?

I get people are saying Rumble was sick, and not that I buy that excuse, but let's say for a moment it's true. When exactly did he know he was sick? When did he have an inkling that he might not be able to shed that dozen extra pounds? I doubt it was just before he stepped on the scales. So then why didn't he at least try to salvage what little scraps of professionalism he had and inform Belfort once he knew? No, instead he chose to make Belfort sweat off every last pound. He made Belfort exhaust himself, when they both could have just agreed to a catchweight.
This same shit pissed me off when Thiago Alves fought Matt Hughes. He came in 6 pounds heavy, and said it was because he hurt his ankle 6 days prior. Hughes took that fight on short notice, and he had to sweat off all tose pounds before Alves admitted he wouldn't make weight. Then he wins, and is well on his way towards a title shot.
What if Johnson goes out there and KO's Belfort? Cost him 20% of his purse, but he'll probably move right up the MW ladder, even though this fight isn't at MW, and his opponent had to adhere to rules he did not. And he could have made an effort to even out those rules by notifying his opponent and the UFC so that Belfort could stop cutting weight, but like a little coward bitch, he'd rather hav even more of an advantage.
Anthony Johnson and Thiago Alves should both be thrown out of the UFC. I'm sure Fedor needs a pro-wrestling opponent in Japan.

I hear that people are saying that Rumble is sick and that's why he's overweight...Two things. 1. That motherfucker had better have AIDS. 2. If you're sick DON'T FUCKING FIGHT!
Sick or not, he has to know how this would look. Why even walk to the scales?

Are you fucking kidding me.....are you telling me that fat fuck is going to come in at 197 after making 170?? That's beyond retarded and disrespectful
Clyde- January 13, 2012 at 2:56 pm
Damn Rumble, how many Dick's did you eat to come in that heavy? More than Carmen in Kid Clam Curtain's Directorial Debut.
AndyInflammatory- January 13, 2012 at 2:41 pm
If he didnt work very hard to get to 197 he should be okay, but if he dehydrated like a mofo and is STILL that heavy, then the chances of him staying under 205 and actually being able to walk tomorrow are slim. I assume.
google- January 13, 2012 at 2:36 pm
they know by making him way in at 2 pm at 205, he will be in for a beating. So he will get beat down, then fired. Dana like!!
Anhonestmoose- January 13, 2012 at 2:36 pm
So, one year from now when Anthony Johnson moves up to HW what are the predictions for how much over he comes in?
KarmaAteMyCat- January 13, 2012 at 2:30 pm
@Google; He said no more then 205lbs by tomorrow.
ghostboner- January 13, 2012 at 2:28 pm
Apparently brazilians are stuck in 1990. They keep chanting "Whoop, there it is!"
NinjaVanish- January 13, 2012 at 2:22 pm
I've said this for a long time, but fuck Johnson. Not showing up at weight is one of the most unprofessional and disrespectful things a fighter can do. Seriously, especially how he ran his mouth to the haters. Fuck this kid, cut him and replace him with someone who will actually show up on weight.
ghostboner- January 13, 2012 at 2:20 pm
I have been saying for years that AJ was a LHW. I also said that Koscheck would beat Tito. Starting to look more realistic now isn't it?
CrushCo- January 13, 2012 at 2:19 pm
El Famous Burrito: Kudos on "Franklinweight". Brilliant.
Anhonestmoose- January 13, 2012 at 2:16 pm
because Vitor said he would still take the fight if AJ came in under 205 tomorrow.
Lesnarischamp- January 13, 2012 at 2:10 pm
lol. I said when the matchup was made that it would be hilarious if AJ still missed weight at MW.
I think when most people saw he was fighting at MW, they saw it as him fighting at a more fitting weight class, but apparently AJ saw it as an opportunity to put on more weight and still try cut the same amount, what a fool.
I think the match should be cancelled outright, but since it looks like AJ will have to do a cut on the same day of the fight, he should be fatigued enough that Vitor can take it to him anyway.
google- January 13, 2012 at 2:07 pm
why did Rogan keep saying he needs to weigh 205 by tommarow?

Lesnar vs Rumble in the IGF
Fletch the V Stretch- January 13, 2012 at 1:47 pm
@ Fried Taco

My favorite part was when he accused the scale of greasing while weighing in and called off the weigh ins.
El Famous Burrito- January 13, 2012 at 1:45 pm
Shit, he didn't even make Franklinweight.
Fried Taco- January 13, 2012 at 1:43 pm
My favorite part was when Paul Harris declared he had won the weigh-ins and celebrated by ripping off the legs of random people.
Fletch the V Stretch- January 13, 2012 at 1:35 pm
WTF? Anthony Johnson goes up in weight and still overshoots the limit by 12 fucking pounds? This guy is a fucking joke. He has missed weight just as many times as he has made weight.

As a Georgia native I want to root for the guy but his lack of professionalism is just absurd. I hope Vitor smashes him and his 20 fucking pound weight advantage a la Matt Lindland.
XENOPHON- January 13, 2012 at 1:32 pm
Mendes needs to ditch that 1970's Leo Sayer haircut! LOL, ..what a fucking geek.
XENOPHON- January 13, 2012 at 1:30 pm
I'd pay $24 bucks....not a penny more.
