I completely agree with you about Silva's insult about Fans not understanding what they are watching....He said that same garbage about us in Montreal after UFC97, problem is, Montreal(+neighbouring Indian reserves) have been holding MMA events regularly since the 90's! He acted like a brat the whole interview, didn't really answer any of the questions but one, and the one he did answer he belittled all of the fans with his answer. Body language isn't perfectly cross culturally translatable but it's a damn-site better than sounding like a retard or relying on a more fluent wingman. I've been in this exact situation with Swiss chicks, German chicks, Dutch chicks, Tennessee chicks etc, etc - tons of non-english speakers. Body language is the only way to go. That was perhaps the greatest mma interview ever. Silva comes across as a happy free spirit.

Also, he isn't mimicking or attempting to put on a face of what he thinks an American is like, he's being HIMSELF. Which is great, instead of playing either a typical sports 'play it one game at a time' guy, or being a 'tough guy' trying to hype up a fight.

Okami - Chael wins, Silva losses by DQ - I guess thats one point for Chael
Forrest Griffin - Silva puts on a clinic, Chael gets caught in a triangle
Marquardt - Chael eeks out a decision, Silva knocks him the fuck out in 1st round
Maia - Chael losses in 1st to a triangle, Silva smashes his face in, breaks his nose then decides to put on a dance show.
Jeremy Horn - Silva wins by decision, Chael losses twice

Seems to me that almost all of Chaels 10 losses have come via submission, Silva has very good submissions if he needs to use them.

As far as Ariel goes.....just because you do a ton of interviews, does not make you a good interviewer, case a point with the interaction between him a Silva...did we really learn anything new after all those questions, other than A.Silva's action figure can beat him in an arm wrestling match.
Ariel asks compelling questions every now and again, but they never seem to yield answers from the individual he is interviewing.
Nonetheless, at the very least he is covering this sport well and working hard...E for effort Ariel!
