WEC 36 Videos + Bonus Info

(Urijah Faber vs. Mike Brown; props to MMA Scraps.)

Last night’s WEC show drew 5,227 fans for a live gate of $563,578, according to MMA Weekly. $7,500 bonuses were awarded to the following fighters:

Fight of the Night: Donald Cerrone and Rob McCullough for their three-round undercard war that some are calling a fight-of-the-year candidate; too bad we had to see the Filho/Sonnen debacle instead. Cerrone took home the unanimous decision win.

Knockout of the Night: Mike Brown for his beating of Urijah Faber. Which was nice and all, though Aaron Simpson kinda got robbed.

Submission of the Night: Rani Yahya for his first-round guillotine choke of Yoshiro Maeda, also from the undercard.

TKO of the Night?: Leonard Garcia reportedly got an extra $7,500 for steamrolling Jens Pulver.

Full results can be found here. More videos after the jump…

Is the WEC going to put the Razor/Cowboy fight on their website? If it is that good I will pay a couple of bucks to see it.

I love Pulver too, but cringed watching him fight. Sigh... It seemed like he was a deer caught in the headlights the entire time. It was as if he couldn't get his head together, just like how he was confused during the standup exchanges with BJ Penn during their second fight.

I think either Jens' reflexes and eye coordinations aren't what they used to be, or Jens needs to warm up more before getting comfortable...kinda like when football players sometimes say they need to feel one tackle to get in the zone, or when a basketball player needs a foul shot or layup before feeling like he's in the game.

I don't know if it was because I was watching the Faber fight on a bad quality clip but it seemed like when Brown knocked him down, both of Faber's feet left the floor like a video game super punch.

paulo filho is a disgrace. it even seemed like he was talkin to someone while he was fighting. i dont know what is up wit him but he needs to get his shit straight because he is an embarassing champion.

So did Filho's corner give Sonnen the belt or was that just a BS face-saving attempt after the weigh-in debacle? All the vids of that match end right after the decision. I thought Sonnen was going to make him pay but I guess he made Filho look like a sloth.

Brown. Nice work. Good capitalize on Faber's mistake.

WTF? Everybody I was rooting for last night LOST!

I even kept my six year old daughter up late because she wanted to see "Lil' Evil" fight and he lost! I still love Pulver. He'll be back.

And the Faber fight? Uh, Urijah? Next time, how about keeping that guard up, OK? If you need to see how it's done, just re-watch the fight and look at Brown.

I know what happened to Faber. It's like Samson in the bible: he cut his hair and lost his super powers.

turdle420- November 5, 2008 at 12:57 pm
now they need to line up faber and garcia to see who's gonna fight brown for the belt. this loss is definitely gonna make faber better.

What the f*ck was with them not doing ANY INTERVIEWS after the Filho-Sonnen debacle? That was the only time I've ever wanted to hear the fighters talk afterwards when Forrest Griffin wasn't involved.
mayhem420- November 5, 2008 at 12:48 pm
It sucks that Jens lost the way he did.
I really though that was going to be a war.....
Kinda happy that Faber lost. I know it was due to a bad elbow that he threw (left him open) but some times a loss like this makes the fighter come back stronger...
Kinda like GSP after he lost to Serra.
