(Wait a minute, Brian Bowles was hanging out with Don Frye last night? I hope it’s not too late to change my FightPicker bet, because there’s no way Bowles wasn’t hung over and short one kidney this morning. Photo courtesy of the WEC 47: After the Weigh Ins gallery on CombatLifestyle.com.)
WEC 47 kicks off on Versus at 10 p.m. ET, featuring the bantamweight title fight between Brian Bowles and Dominick Cruz, plus Miguel Torres vs. Joseph Benavidez and Jens Pulver vs. Javier Vazquez. Follow us on Twitter tonight for updates, and let us know how you’re feelin’ in the comment thread below. Okay? Let’s have some fun tonight…

commentsTorres looked timid. Did he lose his killer instinct?
Pulver = Done, and the sooner he realizes it the better for his future prospects. Nobody wants to be another Ken Shamrock.
What a night. Torres got schooled. WOW.
And for Jens Pulver. Damn, I almost cryed with him. He is a perfect example of a class athlete. I wish Frank Mir was commentating so he could learn a thing or 2. Jens didnt get jealous, make death threats, or stalk forever after Penn held onto that choke for an extra couple seconds while the ref was tryign to rip him loose. Instead, he showed respect, even after that. If he were Mir....Jens would of talked about him for the past year or 2, telling everyone from coast to coast how he wants to kill him.
Jens is teh classiest fighter out there, period. Will always be a Jens Pulver fan. Sucks to see him losing, but even he knows that it is probably time to call it quits even though it is much easier said than done. Good luck to Jens adn whatever he does. I hope he takes Frank Mir's job. At least he wont be biased towards certain fighters. ALthough, I would of loved to hear(or not hear) Mir's reaction when his bff got schooled.
So there was no play by play tonight for the fights? I hope that twitter broadcast doesn't become a regular thing because that sucked trying to follow the fights if you didn't watch them. Maybe I'm not that familiar with twitter and did something wrong, but I didn't see much going on over there.
You said "follow us on twitter for updates," but all I saw were who won the fights amongst ramdom replies to other people twittering. Sucks balls if you ask me.
Please don't act lazy now and continue to do that. When I can't watch the fights live, those "in round" updates are a life saver to stay current with MMA.
Love what you guys do, but thanks for nothing last night
Lot of props to Benavidez tho, he looked fantastic. Real clean, nice looking style.
i liked cruz in all of his interviews up until this week for some reason. thought it was funny when the wec pres snatched the belt away from moms and shook his head in disapproval towards cruz.
There is a "donfrye" who is a mod in the MMAnews forum who was reffered to and treated as the Don frye.
He used to just post at first so I thought it might just be some dude. But Smoogy is no idiot and wouldn't have made someone posing as don frye a mod. So when he did that he pretty much vouched for him.
I did not actually see him through the computer though.
I also thought it seemed kinda weird for an old dude like that to be a mod. But I've never been one so I dont know what all it entails. Maybe its not so tricky as it sounds. Probably just an interface to delete posts and manipulate accounts.
Maybe if your qualified to post in a forum your technically qualified to be a mod too.
Temperament and Judgment is what makes a good one IMO, which is why he was such a bad one.
Honestly I'm sure I'd be a bad one too.
Cruz gives off some major douche vibes but you can't deny he picked Bowles apart. Benevidez was beastly against Torres who was looking surprisingly tentative.
This is why I hate WEC cards, crazy crap happens too much.
Fair enough man, you got your reasons, just breaking balls anyway.
Do u mean Frye is a mod at mmanews? cause that would be a little weird, seems like the guy would be too old school to even own a computer.
@kidkabbage
When Don does it my friend it aint called cheating, it's called "Spreading the Frye baby....Spreading the Frye...."
I always thought he was a cool dude.
So disappointing to see him slack off on his fighting. Needs to get serious and join a new camp IMO.
@ Kabbage, Lol.
:)
That is a good sacrifice. Don Frye already strikes fear into the souls of his opponents, their families, and anyone he looks upon with contempt. Why not add canceraids to his list of superhuman powers?
@Dubus22
Watch what you say. Don Frye's ears are on fire. He never cheats on his woman. And to make that allegation is grounds for him to mail you an envelope with his chin hairs inside, indicating that he has returned to his moustached ways and means serious business.
They may be trifling, and maybe I can barely remember what they are now, but I've got them. That's all I need to know.
He's a mod at MMAnews.
How does HIV feel?
Damn man what did The Predator do to you? Did yah walk in on him one time giving your momma a good seeing to and realize his moustache wasn't the only thing you'd never be able to measure up to?
With my luck your probably right. But a deal with Satan is of course necessarily Faustian.
So I continue to hope, and pray.
Maybe don frye continues to live and kick ass grow mustaches, yet brings canceraids upon everyone he loves or touches.
That would work for me.
