Weekend MMA TV Guide: Strikeforce Challengers, MFC 21, Bellator VII

The UFC is taking another weekend off, but there’s still enough MMA action going on tonight to satisfy your thirst for combat — as long as you have a solid cable TV package. Here’s what’s happening…

When+Where: Tonight at the Save Mart Center in Frenso, California, starting at 6 p.m.
How to Watch: Showtime, 11 p.m. ET/PT
Lowdown: Strikeforce’s new up-and-comer series kicks off with a lightweight clash between undefeated prospect Billy Evangelista and BJ Penn student Mike Aina in the main event. Elsewhere on the main card, Miesha Tate tangles with Sarah Kaufman, and former Strikeforce #1 light-heavyweight contender Anthony Ruiz takes on ShoXC vet Aaron Rosa. When+Where: Tonight at the River Cree Resort and Casino in Enoch, Alberta, Canada, starting at 7 p.m.
How to Watch: HDNet, 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT
Lowdown: Former WWE star Bobby Lashley returns against Mike Cook, while MFC light-heavyweight champ Emanuel Newton defends his belt against Trevor Prangley in the main event. The televised card will also feature UFC vets Marvin Eastman, David Heath, and John Alessio. Check out the full lineup here.

When+Where: Tonight at the Aragon Entertainment Center in Chicago, starting at 8 p.m.
How to Watch: ESPN Deportes, tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET; you can also watch the event on starting Wednesday.
Lowdown: Both semi-finals of Bellator’s welterweight bracket are scheduled to go down, with undefeated Lymon Good slated against Jorge Ortiz, and former UFC champ Dave Menne putting his vast experience on the line against rookie Omar De La Cruz. In non-tournament action, UFC heavyweight vet Eddie Sanchez faces Xtreme Couture product Jay White, Kerry Vera (Brandon‘s kickboxer wife) makes her professional MMA debut against Leslie Smith, and double-KO specialist Anthony Lapsley takes on Victor Meza. What happened to Lashley fighting Bob Sapp? Did Sapp pull out because of the Dream Hulk tourny? Its too bad. I wanted to see that.
