Kimbo Slice: “When It’s Time Come to Bump, You Gonna Bump.”

ProElite has put together a new promo video to hype the Kimbo Slice/Tank Abbott fight on February 16. Two things stand out: First, Tank only gets about 1.5 seconds of screen time; maybe this was done so that uninformed Kimbo fans don’t see recent footage of Tank in action and immediately lose their excitement for this ugly mismatch. Second, ProElite is getting a lot of mileage from Kimbo’s three-punch victory over Bo Cantrell. This is like the video-editing equivalent to Native Americans using every part of the buffalo.

So let’s try to call it. I’m saying that the fight will end at 0:59 of the first round — generous, I know — with Kimbo winning it by TKO (punches). Put down your predictions in the comments section below. The reader who calls it closest gets a fantastic prize to be named later. I’m also willing to entertain side-bets from readers who think Tank is going to pull out a surprise victory. Watch the video, then have at it…

UPDATE: Alright, this is Tank’s promo clip. There’s something a little sad about that shot of him running up the hill and stopping to shadow-box. Getting strong now!

Tank has a puncher’s chance. Think Buster Douglas, 17 years ago this month, versus the “unbeatable” Mike Tyson. I think Kimbo might be enjoying all the hype so much that he lazily walks into a Abbott haymaker.

Aw, never mind. Kimbo slices and dices. Fight stopped at 3:02 of Round 1.

Kimbo via KO :33 seconds into the first round!

Chris- February 14, 2008 at 8:28 pm

Since almost no one else is, I’m calling Tank by submission, 1:25 in round 1. It’s like betting a dollar on the Price is Right.

bengtOnizR- February 14, 2008 at 8:22 pm

Both will stand and slug the first round. Then we’ll see a hugparty for 2 rounds with some bad takedown attempts. And the fight will end with a splitdecision making Tank the winner.

OPG2- February 14, 2008 at 8:17 pm

I reckon Kimbo will win in the 2nd round via submission (Knee bar or Guillotine choke). About 2:10 in the second round. :)

I think his training will show us something special. Suprise us!

OPG- February 14, 2008 at 8:16 pm

I say Kimbo via submission in the second round. About 2 minutes 10 seconds into the 2nd round via Guillotine choke or Knee bar! :)

His training will create a suprise tomorrow night I think.

Tank will land a haymaker at about the 3 minute mark of round 1 and win. It could happen.
