Before we get started, let me just point out that MMABay.co.uk has an accuracy rate of about .500 when it comes to breaking news — which is great if you’re batting cleanup, and not so great if you’re an MMA news site. So take the validity of this rumor as somewhere between "Kimo Leopoldo is dead" and "Josh Barnett is innocent." Anyway:
Our first reaction is: No way. The UFC needs to give their U.K. poster boy something closer to a guaranteed rebound for his next fight, and Silva could potentially give Bisping his second-consecutive brain-rattling knockout. But the more we think about the matchup, the more it makes sense. If you’re going to headline an event with Michael Bisping, you’d better make sure his opponent is a big-name draw. (After all, UFC 78 is not exactly looked back on as a fan favorite.) Bisping and Wandy’s stocks have plummeted after their recent defeats, and this match will salvage the career of at least one of them — even if the other guy has to be sacrificed. Plus, Michael Bisping and Quinton Jackson are BFFs, while Wanderlei Silva and Quinton Jackson are mortal enemies, so there’s that little storyline.
We’ll let you know if there’s an official confirmation by either camp. In the meantime, what do you think of the Count vs. the Axe Murderer: Idiotic, or so stupid it just might work?

commentsi dont think so.
Bisping: I sent the trouble and strife down the frog and toad to get a bag of jockeys' whips
Wandy: Fighting been berry berry good to me
As much as this statement pisses me off, I wouldn't doubt that it happens. But regardless of how much business sense it makes, I resent the fact that they think they can manage perceptions by tailoring the fights to a more popular win/loss record and this is exactly why I'd be all for a better, more structured ranking system. If Bisping is due to get his head knocked off again, so be it. But if they feed him someone he's sure to knock around, all it does is milk another PPV and water down the card. And it seems some of the logical matchups didn't or won't happen this year because of the timing of their last fights [not just Bisping and Wandy] I'm usually a fan of Joe Silva's work, but I don't care to see unnecessary matchups just to give Bisping a win with the hopes of convincing me he's not the turd I already know he is.
Let's see the best fights. I don't distinguish between Kimbo, Bisping, Fedor, or anyone else when it comes to handing them easy fights to bolster popularity. I think that sucks in general.
That KO from Hendo was just a warm-up, Bisping's brain better get ready to be turned to mush.
I mean, let's take a look at Bisping here: he's a striker who's not known for one-punch KO power, but can do damage with his fists and legs. He's a former 205-lb fighter who moved down to middleweight. He says he has wrestling, but it's not really something he goes after, it's more used to keep fights standing.
Sound familiar? Yeah, exactly -- he's basically a poor man's version of Rich Franklin. And when Joe Silva starts matching Bisping up with guys who were evenly matched with Franklin, it's not hard to figure out what's going to happen.
Two Knock Outs. AH AH
I love it. I'm stoked.
