This is the new millenium, and there's an easy way to settle this. Take it to Judge Wapner! Fedor jumps ship, DW and Zuffa pays the breach of contract settlement (has to be cheaper than what Zuffa offered him as a contract) on Fedor's behalf, and we can all move on and go about real business.

The judge can decide punitive damages based on fights remaining on Fedor's contract * average attendance * ppv sales.

So... 3 fights left * 100 ppl per show * 14 ppv sales (all the smart folks watched it streaming or dl'ed it for nothing). I figure Fedor's worth about $200k max to M-1, yet they are role-playing it as if they're a money and marketing machine. It's not like they are selling millions of PPV's and filling stadiums because of one fighter.

F*ck M-1, pay them their penalty pittance and be done with them, and have one less competing organization (if you could even call them that).

Either that, or sign every available free agent fighter (including Arlovski and Sylvia) so there's no one left for Fedor to fight. He can remain under M-1's bullshit contract, sitting on the sidelines going broke until he's too old to fight anymore.

All great athletes go where the greatest competition is PERIOD. Kobe, Lebron, Wade, could all go overseas and make more money over there. Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin could all play in Europe for more cash. If it's not about the money for M-1 Global, or it's the "respect" factor from Dana, or whatever the reason could be, it should be about the competition for Fedor. The UFC has some pretty draconian policies regarding fighter's images and sponsorship and I'm glad Fedor turned them down. UFC needs him if they are to legitimize their hold on MMA worldwide. Until DW lands the Emperor, it's a blot on their record and it must irk him something fierce to be known as the guy who couldn't put together the biggest fight of the day. The UFC hype or dis-hype machine is at it again! So what if M-1 wants a healthy chunk of PPV revenue, they are CO-PROMOTING the fight. The UFC only cares about money, why shouldn't M-1? Every time Dana fucks over a UFC fighter for 100 PERCENT of their image or moneymaking ability, everyone goes to the presses. When the most elite MMA fighter in the game today turns it around, poor old UFC and Dana White. Doesn't seem fair.

Anyone who says Fedor is scared obviously ignore the fact that he decimated Pride's HW division. Including Big Nog, who not that long ago fought for the interim HW UFC belt. And Cro Cop in his prime. I think there's a lot of confusion about what some fans are feeling about Fedor Emelianenko and whether or not he's an utter douchebag , a pompous douchebag, a delusional douchebag, or just a pawn. I certainly have been a fan of his, but I've admired other fighters like Igor Vovchanchyn, Sakuraba Kazushi, and Rickson Gracie. I'd love to see all three of these legends fight again. I've been a fan of MMA well before I saw a UFC fight. For me it started with seeing "Rickson Gracie: Choke" (I still have that on VHS). That having been said, I'd love to see Fedor Emelianenko fight anywhere as long as the opponents were worthy to stand in the ring with him. Shit, if there's one fighter I sincerely think would be worth every goddamned penny to fight Fedor Emelianenko, it's Rickson Gracie.

He's fought on his terms (or at least the terms of M-1), and the opponents were far from spectacular. This is based less on their records, but their performance in the ring. I have to admit that giving a fighter an expedited shot at the title is disrespectful to everyone from the rookies to the journeymen who are eying the same title. I don't think Brock Lesnar should have received such an opportunity so quickly. Does he have skill? Hell fucking yes. Is he powerful? Absofuckinglutely. Does he have the chops (i.e. a combination of ground & pound, stand up, bjj, and other martial arts)? Umm... errrr... can I get back to you on that?

Would I like to see Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brock Lesnar? Absolutely. I'd also like to see Freddy vs. Jason vs. Michael Myers vs. Ash. I don't think that would be likely to happen anytime soon. I'd also like to see Sakuraba Kazushi fight Rickson Gracie. It's not about Brock Lesnar. It's not about any particular fighter. It's about one organization attracting the highest number of fighters on the planet. Lately some of the fighters for the UFC have had to be let go because they've been losing too many matches. This is simply natural selection at work. If your skill in the octagon isn't as good as the next guy, BUH BYE. It's simply an issue of probability. Out of all the fighters in the UFC, some of them are true shitkicker-heartbreaker-lifetakers. Some of them might even become as renowned as Chuck Liddell, Mark Coleman, and Randy Couture. I wish there were more than one 800-lb gorilla organizations besides Zuffa. Remember when Chuck Liddell fought in Pride F/C? Remember what kind of promise that held?

If Dana White and The Fighter Who Will Not Be Named Tito Ortiz can make up, I have every faith that seemingly insurmountable problems like co-promotion with Zuffa can happen. Just not with a bunch of delusional jackasses like M-1.

Dana could have very well lowballed him so that he does not come in and destroy his HW division. call me a nuthugger I don't care but Fedor is the Tiger Woods of MMA. Do I think M1 had a right to ask for co promotion yes when you hold that card you shoot for the moon. On the other hand I think M1 is fucking weaksauce. Had Dana been more open to co promoted events I would have loved to see that happen ala UFC champs vs Affliction champs to unify all titles. I posted this before comparing it to NFC vs AFC a superbowl of MMA all fans win. But M1's stable is a joke so well never get to see this as long as Fedor owns part of M1 and is obviously looking at the bigger picture and growing M1 to UFC status in Russia.

Then again maybe ill come out and be honest and say im relieved that Fedor didn't sign with the UFC. Maybe there is a pretty good chance that the silverback named Brock could possibly hold him down and hammer fist him to sleep like an angry 4 year old. No true Fedor fan wants to see that or admit it like I just did.

DW offered Fedor oodles of cash - plus everything else the guy wanted - because he's a fan first and wants to see Fedor vs. Brock and Fedor vs. Randy as bad as we do. He has also stated in interviews that he looks at Fedor as one of the top HWs in the world - just not a top P4P fighter, because the runnings for that are so competitive, and because none of Fedor's recent opponents have been P4P greats. So that's why he bent over backwards to sign the guy. Fedor v. anyone in the UFC would have sold millions as well, because the UFC knows how to build and sell fights. Another strong motivator.

Who knows what the deal is with Fedor's M-1 contract... but I doubt he would lie about it. Makes no sense and the guy doesn't seem like a liar to me. So when Fedor himself says he's got 3 fights left with M-1 (and he did say this in a Sherdog interview), I believe it.

That means we might see Fedor fighting in the UFC in about a year or so, depending on how fast those fights are booked in M-1. By then he should still be a dangerous fighter (he's not that old, right?), while Brock will continue to improve. Now Randy, on the other hand, is the one I feel really needs to ink a fight with Fedor ASAP if he's to have any hope of beating him. Time will tell.
