You Knew This Was Coming: Dana White Blasts Randy Couture for Signing Deal With Spike/Bellator

(Go on. Ask him if he gives a f*ck.)

The odds of Randy Couture getting a cushy no-show desk job with the UFC have officially dropped to zero. In the wake of Couture accepting a position to be the new superstar face of Spike TV and Bellator, UFC president Dana White tore into the Natural, blasting his lack of loyalty and even questioning his character as a human being. Here’s what DW had to say about it yesterday:

I’ll say my peace on Randy Couture, and after today, I’ll never mention him again. The bottom-line is this: When that whole thing went down with Randy years ago, we weren’t on the best of terms. Now, before that happened, Randy Couture was on the Matt Hughes, Chuck Liddell deal. He was getting a salary, he was in with the company, he was one of those guys. Then he tries to do all this stuff, pull all this bullshit with Affliction, loses and comes back. So, it took me a long time to warm up to him. His lawyer, who I can’t stand, calling our lawyer every day, saying, ‘We want to come back, we want that job again, we want to work for the UFC,’ and all this stuff. Finally, I just say, ‘yes,’ and give him the FOX [commentary] deal

He doesn’t even finish his contract — he’s got one more fight left — and he bails on the contract to go do this. Randy Couture has this ‘Captain America’ image and stuff like that, but he is not a good guy. He has never been a good guy. And I’m actually, and I mean this, I couldn’t mean it any more: I am happy that he went there. I’m happy he is there. I never have to deal with Randy Couture ever again…. Talk to 99 percent of the people who know him and you’ll see [he's not what people perceive him to be].”

Yes, it’s easy to make Dana White out to be the bad guy when the UFC has disputes with fighters, but this Rampage-caliber public venting isn’t really helping Dana’s case either. The only slam on Couture’s character that we’ve ever heard is that he likes women — like really likes women — to the extent that it occasionally affects his judgment. (New theory: Randy Couture jumped ship to Bellator in an attempt to get into Jade Bryce‘s pants. Just throwing that out there.) Stay tuned, and we’ll see if this latest falling-out turns into something nastier…

*****OK******* Im putting alot of thought into this one....sigh. Listen. The UFC is about MONEY. Period. And whomever is willing to get on their knees and blow Frank and Lorenzo...will get a 'desk job' with the UFC (and YES...Im talking about YOU CHUCK AND MATT). Now.... lets LOOK at recent goings-on here in the UFC.... #1) Rampage says he is mistreated and underpaid by the UFC. HE HAS LEFT THE UFC. #2) Ken Shamrock (a UFC "Hall of Famer" is UNwelcomed at ANYTHING having to do with the UFC). Im not necessarily a Shamrock fan (but lets give this guy some dues.....EVEN IF he sued the UFC). #3) Now...that Couture has taken a job with 'the other guys'.... Dana "never wants to talk about Randy again". Now... It seems to me that Randy, Ken and Rampage have brought in MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars for the UFC. Those are 3 H-U-G-E names. Now, everytime a fighter doesnt play nice....the UFC gets pissed and that fighter is disposed of. Dana (who I actually like alot) MUST be chomping at the bit to fire Hendo again. He's pissed about Hendo's knee and seems to mock him every chance Dana gets. Does anyone think Hendo will be offered a 'cushy office job'? No way in hell will that happen. Dana partied with Chuck and Chuck got a good gig in the office. Hughes is done working on a farm and is fine w moving to Vegas. Im POSITIVE Randy (and all other UFC fighters) have to sign an agreement NOT to talk about contractual details with the media. I KNOW this. So.....fighters have SOMETHING to say, but CAN'T. Fertitta's.... you duche-bags WISH you knew who I was, dontcha? Anyways... Fighters in the UFC are disposable. The UFC is about MONEY. A cash-cow. Think of it this way.... Are the 'championchip' bouts REALLY about "The Best" fighters.....or......are they about the fight cards that will bring in 'The Most' money? To put it more plainly.... if the UFC was in charge of football (NFL), would they put the 2 teams with the best records in the Suprbowl....or would they put the two teams with the biggest stars IN the Superbowl? Its like....does anyone THINK that Ronda Rousey is a 'champion'? How did she get a belt and she hasnt fought in the UFC yet. Oh wait....she's friends with Dana. Thats like Ron Jeremy giving me an award for 'biggest cock' when nobody's even seen it. Make sense? Anyways...I think its great that Randy moved to SPIKE. I think it will finally give the UFC some pressure. I mean, c'mon... who would you rather have 'call a fight'??? Jon Anik or Randy Couture? I think its friggen HYSTERICAL that Couture WAITED until he got in the UFC 'hall of fame' and then left those UFC turds to eat shit. Randy has done IMMEASUREBLE GOOD for MMA and the UFC. For ANY OF YOU to shit on Randy now.......after all the fights and awesomeness of need to dig a little deeper and realize that you are wrong. Randy has been the face of the UFC for almost SIXTEEN years. He made a BUSINESS decision to go where he would be HAPPY and make MORE money (which apparently the UFC would have offered neither of those for him). Honestly... I think Rampage should get a gig with SPIKE too! Hell, throw Shamrock in there..... Call this new SPIKE show... "The Grass IS Greener On Th Other Side". Good for you Randy. You'll always be 'the man' in my book. Pure Legend. Thx for reading.

If memory serves, Randy was involved in some seriously shady financial shenanigans that culminated in him screwing Team Quest, specifically Dan Henderson and the late Evan Tanner for sponsorship money. So it's not just the women. Randy's MO is, and always has been, to get as much cash as he can and the record indicates he doesn't really care who gets trampled over on the way. So yeah, great fighter, questionable person. For once Dana isn't just being bombastic, the record kinda backs him up on this one.

Since the post seem to be more about Mickey Rourke's face than Captain America, I can explain. Mickey decided to get a face lift when he had no good reason to buy one. Obviously, it went really wrong! He was unrecognizable at first, but now he gets all the "monster" roles. Maybe it was the best thing he ever did for his career?!
bitteralex- February 1, 2013 at 1:15 pm
rourke was a boxer for a bit
crappiefloper- February 1, 2013 at 12:26 pm
DW 's pissed cause he won't be Randy's pimp for awhile is all.
danomite- February 1, 2013 at 12:19 pm
@everyone - one fight left on the broadcasting contract makes much more sense than what I was thinking. I'm stupid. But on a serious note, why does mickey rourke look like he has a permanent case of the mumps? If you took that picture and asked people which one of these guys gets punched in the face for a living, 10 out of 10 would pick the rodeo wizard in the middle.

I guess I am the only one who is gonna defend Dana White....ok fine.
I agree with Dana, plus I was never a randy fan anyways. I thought he was a cockbag from the last fight he had with chuck, thats why I was always glad Chuck beat his ass. I hated him when cock chestner was gonna fight him. I couldn't root for cock chestner, but was I upset that he HAM-fisted Coutures head? hell no , I laughed my ass off. I actually wished he woulda beat him half to death. Fuck Couture, hes a douchebag to women, to fans, and prolly to Dana. He never deserved to be like chuck or matt Hughes, he was never that loyal. I hope this makes Dana put bellator outta business like he has everyone else who pisses him off, I like the fact that Dana can do that to other companys. Bellator should fire Randy, have 6 big "pipe-hitting nigga's" get medieval on his ass, then call Dana, and offer up video of it as a way to buy favor with White so he doesn't kill them.
El Famous Burrito- February 1, 2013 at 11:56 am
That wasn't "defending Dana" so much as getting a lot of stuff about Randy Couture off your chest. Let it out, man.
dranokills- February 1, 2013 at 10:34 pm
good call.
intercept440- February 1, 2013 at 10:46 am
Randy is like me and you and everyone else . he wants to make more money...just like dana white wants to make more money..
Dana is pissed caused randy is very marketable in the world of mma. and since randy made a business deal dana now feels butt hurt cause now in the future ha can no longer pimp out randy to make the ufc more coin.
now is randy a dick for not honoring his one more fight broadcast anouncer gig...totally.. but hey at the end of the day . he is a grown ass man, as ninjay put it. he can do whatever the fuck he wants. although he may find out later that burning a bridge he and there wont be profitable for him in the future.
shatterproof- February 1, 2013 at 10:29 am
sour grapes

ima listen to DW about 'who's a good guy'? ha!
ArmFarmer- February 1, 2013 at 10:03 am
Maybe he didn't do anything legally or ethically wrong here.. but I still don't get why he would choose anyone over the ufc. Who's going to be around longer, has deeper pockets, and is already invested in you? Why go with anyone else?
NinJay- February 1, 2013 at 9:53 am
I wouldn't be surprised for one second to find out Randy is a dirtbag when the camera are off. I have stopped believing in athletes a very long time ago. That being said Dana White is such a dick and a hypocrite. He wants his fighters to act professional 24/7 but his big ass mouth gets a pass every time....I am finding it hard to concentrate because right above this comment box is "A Tribute to Busty Girls" that I am dying to click on.......It's a business, If a fighter starts to lose he has no problem cutting them even though they were very loyal to the ufc and hyped the company whenever they could. Couture is a grown ass man, and he can make whatever decision he wants, obviously he isn't doing anything wrong as the UFC lawyers would be all over him and it doesn't sound like they are.
Jesus Frijoles- February 1, 2013 at 9:52 am
Is it just me, or does it look like Mickey Rourke stole that hat from a fat girl at the state fair.
El Famous Burrito- February 1, 2013 at 11:57 am
Ha! Rourke had her looking everywhere between the fried Twinkie stand and the chocolate covered bacon stand.
the silver hawaiian- February 1, 2013 at 9:50 am
Killer comments section, bros. Hopefully this can get posted half a dozen times too.
the silver hawaiian- February 1, 2013 at 9:50 am
danomite - I think the contract to which White was referring was the broadcasting contract. That is, he probably had one more fight left to broadcast, not in which to compete..
ArmFarmer- February 1, 2013 at 9:38 am
I don't know why.. but I just have this feeling Randy really is kind of a behind the scenes dirtbag. He needs to stop trying to act too. I only saw the first expendables, but his one monologue was pretty awkward and out of place. Seriously just because I watch someone fight doesn't mean I want to watch them stumble through awkward dialogue while everyone pretends he didn't just ruin the movie for a few minutes.

danomite- February 1, 2013 at 9:22 am
I can see some of what Dana says being true. He wasn't even this angry with Rampage and Rampage has been nothing but an asshole to him ever since he lost his title. But the stuff about Randy still having one fight left on his contract is bullshit. It's called retirement. I'm sure Matt Hughes and Chuck Liddell both had 1 or 2 fights left on their contract when they decided they were tired of getting knocked out. If a fucking ninja crane-kicked the teeth right out of my head I'd probably call it quits too.
Shifty-Eyed Dog- February 1, 2013 at 9:39 am
He meant he had one more show as commentator left. He bailed without fulfilling his contract for that job, which is why they had Chael Sonnen fill in.
dipsetkilla316- February 1, 2013 at 9:22 am
Randy got mad at the ufc wen there fight dentist did take care of him after machida front kicked his fucking tooth outa his mouth
beef_kurtains- February 1, 2013 at 9:17 am
Lulz at Dana. Toolbag.
raton- February 1, 2013 at 9:05 am
Typical cry baby Dana. So Randy should just suck the UFC's dick for the rest of his life? Bellator and Spike offered him a deal and he took it. As Dana would say, "it's just business".
Mir please break Brocks neck- February 2, 2013 at 11:58 pm
BEST comment yet. I agree 100%. "ITS JUST BUSINESS"..... and when it doesnt go Dana's way...people are disposable. **Look out for my new comment above Im posting now**.
