Now that Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic is on the verge of making his possibly glorious, possibly disastrous return to the cage against Ben Rothwell at UFC 110 this weekend, we might as well take a look at the man’s softer side. Granted, he’s a bad-ass Croatian fighter, so his soft side isn’t even really all that soft.  It’s more of a malleable metal than a bowl of jello, really, but that’s not the point.  The point is, if there’s one thing Cro Cop respects it’s kids who kick other kids in the head.

I don’t know about you, but the build-up to the Cro Cop reveal in this video had me expecting a little more of a reaction out of the kids. The cameras in their living room might have tipped them off that something was afoot, but even when the guy who’s supposed to be their idol walks in the door they barely crack a smile. It’s not until he starts pulling out the free gear that they even look like they’re glad he came.

Of course, some of that may have to do with the advice he gives them. Be good to your mother, stay away from drugs, cigarettes, and alcohol, try and do a little better in school – it’s basically the same tired rap that Mr. T used to peddle when I was a kid, only Cro Cop doesn’t even go to the trouble to present the message through the majesty of song…
