Zoila Gurgel (formerly Frausto)’s first Bellator appearance since winning the promotion’s 115-pound title last October may also be her last of the season. According to a CSAC medical report, Gurgel broke her hand during her unanimous decision victory over Karina Hallinan this weekend, and may be out of action for six months. Since Bellator’s current fourth season is only scheduled to run through May 21st, it’s almost certain that she won’t be back until season five, which kicks off in the fall.
To add insult to injury [Ed. note: wow, this is one of the few situations where that phrase actually makes sense] the fighter payouts for Bellator 35 were released yesterday, revealing that Frausto makes 60 cents on the dollar compared to male participants in the current welterweight tournament, who aren’t even champions yet. While Frausto earned $6k/$6k for her 125-pound non-title bout over Karina Hallinan, fighters like Brent Weedman and Rick Hawn took home $10k/$10k for their quarterfinal fights in the 170-pound bracket. The full salary list is below…

I read on another site that Frausto/Gurgel is vacating the 115lb title and will most likely compete in an upcoming 125lb tournament. I hope Ms. Sexton gets her chance at revenge!
