Fedor is good, but Pride has more brawlers than well rounded fighters. A well rounded MMA fighter can defend against brawlers. Brawlers will always look more tough. And fights between 2 brawlers always looks action packed. That’s why people think that Pride guys will always dominate, but this isn’t the case at all as you look at what’s happening since the merger. I would say Fedor has a good chance of taking the UFC belt if he had the opportunity, but you can’t count out a UFC fighter, just because they don’t brawl like the Pride fighter.

fedor won this fight with a very well executed and expected armbar. choi is nothing more then a sideshow attraction to draw fans. choi was +1900 going into this fight, hes not even in the same league as fedor or 25 other heavyweights i can name off the top of my head.

Fedor is a very good fighter. I have watched both Pride and UFC for several years now. Fedor would do well in the UFC. I don’t know that he would be the best, but I would not doubt it since the UFC’s heavy weight class is not the strongest weight class for the UFC. Don’t get me wrong, I know the UFC does have some good heavy weights, they just don’t have very many bad ass ones.

I loved the knee’s to the head of a downed opponent in pride. I think a lot of the guys are having trouble adjusting to not being able to knee or kick a downed opponent.

the fight was won when Fedor, the smaller guy, submitted Choi, the bigger guy. He used an armbar to lock up Choi’s arm and apply pressure to the joints. If the fight was not ended, Choi would have walked away with an arm that bends the wrong way.

Fedor is by far the superior fighter here….It is true that he hasnt had any real big name fights, but if you know his history he takes damage and still wins fights.

To all of you noob retards, Fedor has beat some VERY worthy and respected fighters. He’s fought in different organizations than just PRIDE FC too, so you know he’s gotten out there to expand his expirience level. M-1 will take his record to a whole new level. Agreed tho, him fighting Hong Man Choi was somewhat of a joke. It wasn’t expected, but some retards out there thought Hong would win, so this easily put that to rest. beating a guy 100 pounds more, and a foot taller is a pretty good thing to put on your record. Also, Fedor did beat Matt Lindland, who I beleive is ranked 3rd or fourth in the top 10 heavyweights.
And as far as it goes with the UFC, they have talent, but they’re basically just a United States organization. A national thing, while M-1 is around the world. So for Fedor to fight in the UFC would be like him playing United States national futbol (soccer), compared to playing for an internation team, with much more talent and compitition. Sure, the UFC has some great heavywieghts (Couture in particular ranked number 2), but Fedor made a good choice in choosing M-1.
I do, on the otherhand, beleive that the UFC should work with fedor in setting up a fight between him and one of their top ranked heavy weights without dragging him into a contract. The UFC should even try to get one of their fighters into M-1 for one fight against Fedor so he can show them why he’s ranked number one.

Besides Rampage everyother has been unseccessfull!!!??? Aoki’s yet to be beaten, Anderson Silva has held the UFC middleweight title for what, 4 straight fights, Wanderlei Silva’s done pretty fuckin good, Hendo put 5 staright rounds on Rampage (alot better than any UFC star ever has), Big Nog is gonna tear Sylvia the fuck apart. Sure, Cro-Cop, Shogun, Herring and others have fallen, but just as many are standing tall. 2 hold the UFC titles. Wanderlei looks like he’s gonna comeback and surve up a beating. As far as Cro-Cop and Shogun go, I think Shoguns no longer a top contender. Cro_Cop is definenetly waking up tho, and will be back, like always.

Oh, and to all of those who said Hong won that fight…. You seriously dont know what MMA means do you? Mixed Martial Arts. Which consists of jui-jitsu(being brazilian, gracie, bjj, whatever), muay-thai, thai-kwan-do(sp), boxing, dirty boxing, kickboxing, greco roman wrestling, original wrestling, judo, sambo, karate(sorta), submission wrestling outside of jui-jitsu, and even yoga for flexability. To win a fight you can win by referee stppage (when a fighting is not intelligently deffending themselves, excessive injuries, throw in the towel), Techniacal Knockout, knockout, submission (Hong tapped you dumbasses, which means in an MMA match, Fedor easily won), unanimous decision, majority decision, split decision. Before saying anything, make sure you know what sport your watching, and in what organization. they have different rules.

the pride vs. ufc arguments are absurd — both orgs got the fighters they could afford, pride had a more world-wide focus so they got, in my opinion, a collection of fighters with more variety among them. that’s what i think made pride more fun to watch, more exciting. but it didn’t take long for ufc to get the same variety of highly skilled fighters, and now that zuffa owns both of the orgs the whole argument is moot.

Fedor himself said Choi was worth fighting cause of his K-1 wins and the fact that when Fedor clinched with Choi, he realized he wasn’t strong enough and had to purely rely on good technique.

i’m afraid to say i see mma going the way of boxing. i knew when i saw pamela anderson and other celebrities at the fights that the “sport” of mma was doomed. on one hand it’s great to get recognition and bigger purses for the fighters - if any athlete desrves it it’s them. unfortunately when a lot of money is at stake corruption follows. we have a few golden years left but eventually this sport will be just like boxing.
by there is/was some talk of a fedor couture matchup but couture would have to wait out his ufc contract. affliction (mma clothing line) would sponsor the fight. both fighters want the fight. it is the most anticipated non-fight in all of mma. why the fuck can’t the ufc and m1 get it done?

k lets get this right no bad asses in UFC? Have u heard of Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin & many more that are. Like the one Fedor would not fight Randy Couture that would have been a good fight. K now to the next ufc or pride they both win they have the same boss now so the money is there for both of them now the real question is which ring do they fight in only one fighter in pride has done any good in the ufc ring and he has a belt to prove it Quinton Jackson. But Crocop is a bad ass just need to fight like he did in pride and there are many more to make this fun to watch. Luck is good to have put skill with that and and all we as watchers can do is hope for so luck in the fight thats what makes it good any one can win. If u haven’t seen IFL look it up 20year old fighter really good Big Ben he looks good to and there is some more I would like to see in ufc.If some one thanks Kimbo is ready for that fight please quit watching MMA he has a lot to learn like so ground game and defense this is not the streets everybody hits hard here and he is 1 for 1 with a MMA fighter but he will be fun to watch i do like him just don’t put cart before horse.
