Chuck Liddell Has More To Say About Kimbo Slice
(But does he love them?)
So you thought the war of words between Chuck Liddell and Kimbo Slice was over. You just assumed that after Liddell called Kimbo overrated, and then Kimbo replied that he had “nothing but these” (indicating his fists) for Liddell, that would be the end of it, didn’t you?
Well obviously, you haven’t been paying attention to the way things work in the world of MMA. The first rule of a nascent fighter feud? Never let someone else have the last word.
“The Iceman” knows how to play the game. That’s why he went on the unfortunately named “Rear Naked Radio” this weekend to clarify his earlier comments about Kimbo. And by clarify, we mean add fuel to the fire. From MMA Junkie:
“Before he talks about fighting me, he might want to think about beating somebody that has a winning record,” Liddell said. “He’s an internet sensation who beat up guys at Taco Bell. Come on. How hard is that to do?”
Oh. No. He. Didn’t.
Chuck Liddell obviously hasn’t been to a Taco Bell in Queens, because there are some pretty rough customers hanging around and waiting for their pregnant girlfriends to get off work. If you even suggest that she forgot your Baja Chalupa, she bursts into tears and then it’s out come the switchblades. You fight your way out of that one, you deserve some bragging rights.
But Liddell wasn’t done. He had some in-depth analysis of Kimbo’s recent opposition, most notably Bo Cantrell:
“That first fight they had on HDNet, he fought a guy that had been knocked out two times before in less than 30 seconds, and he tapped on his way down in [that] one. That was three fights that he lost in less than 30 seconds. How many guys do you know who’s done that?”
Truly, that is an impressive feat by Mr. Cantrell. Kimbo’s next opponent, James Thompson, is also coming off back-to-back first-round KO losses. At least his total ring time for those fights is a more respectable 2:34. Maybe a win over him will be enough to impress Liddell. Don’t count on it, though.

He’s right: he’s a much, much better fighter than Kimbo Slice. So much so that calling Kimbo out makes Chuck look like a man who is jealous to suddenly be one of two MMA fighters to make the cover of Sports Illustrated. A top-tier pro doesn’t talk shit about the up-and-comers, no matter how much they might deserve it. I sure hope Chuck and Kimbo are hyping an upcoming fight. If they’re not, then Chuck needs to remember that lecture they gave him on the first day of karate class: Martial arts teaches respect and discipline.

To aptninja: I think that’s chuck’s way of expressing his interest in fighting kimbo. When they step into a KARATE match then they can bow to each other. This is M-M-A (said in slow motion). If I were Chuck I would be hatin on kimbo too. There’s no reason kimbo should be getting magazine covers or forced down our throats on cagepotato.

This fight is Liddle way of passing on the torch(IMO). I give props to kimbo, didnt know MMA, only Putazo’s. Now he trains full time and he takes it seriously. Dont see why someone who was struggling suddenly get a chance and he rocks it, would get so much hate. He will develop in to a real MMA pro.
To me chucks faces says “These girls are barely 18, and they know who i am!”

Chuck’s my all-time fave and usually backs up his words. But doesn’t Kimbo outweigh CL by about 40 pounds? Judging by Chuck’s confidence level, I’m guessing that Rampage Jackson would absolutely destroy Kimbo.
And after reading “Iceman”, I know one thing for certain about Chuck and chicks. He really enjoys doin’ ‘em two at a time.

Kimbo can’t even be ranked yet and he is making big money.This is why fighters think poorly of the situation. Kimbo maybe be hype or he may be the real deal. We cannot say he is the real deal because he hasn’t fought anybody yet. We can say there is a shit load of hype surrounding Kimbo though. He might be a tough guy, for sure has promise, but RIGHT NOW, Chuck Liddell has the right to say anything he wants; he’s been at the top, lost it all, and now he’s climbing back up. Chuck gets more money per fight and has more money. I don’t think its accurate to say he is jealous. Its more like he sees some Bullshittttttt and is making a legit comment about the upside down phenomenon known as Kimbo. Kimbo is marketable to some but he certainly isn’t to many. Time will tell if elite xc’s big gamble on Kimbo will pay off. They could likely be tits up in a year. The whole street/thug angle that XC is working is a bad move. It took a decade to try and make mma into a mainstream and growing sport. Now we got street fighting man being pushed up to the front page where he doesn’t belong. A guy with a negative image and no legitimacy being given top billing is a joke. He is lose- lose for the sport. You can keep the ticket sales that he pulls in. The sport over all would be healthier if this WWE type hype didn’t exist in mma.

I don’t think anyone’s disputing that Chuck has the techniques and experience that Kimbo is lacking. But I DO think a brawl, fist to fist, would be one hell of a fight between those two.
If it came to winning by a submission, takedowns, or technical wins, Chuck would take it.
However… they’re both ridiculously solid, hard-hitting sonsabitches when it comes to a slugfest… and I don’t know who would win that match, but I think it was be amazing.

kimbo has a chance to do something with time once he is built up. Elite xc is doing a good of marketing him and building him up. but he needs some better fighters then always been overrated tank…. Chuck can take a punch Silva landed more then a few and he is known for his heavy hands. the only time i have ever seen Kimbo truly hit hard he lost and gased out, granted that he was choked and knee to the face…wait cant you do that in an mma fight…i would like to see the fight happen but kimbo isnt ready for a seasoned fighter like chuck yet. beat someone with some credit not past his time.
