King of the Cage Double K.O.
Well, one more of these and it’s a full-blown epidemic. At King of the Cage “Opposing Force” on May 15th — just one day before Shaun Parker and Tyler Bryan exchanged simultaneous knockout punches at LFC 25 — Anthony Lapsley and Aaron Wetherspoon’s match also ended with both guys getting their lights turned out. Near the beginning of the second round, Lapsley cranked Wetherspoon with a perfect right straight, but clashed heads with his opponent on the way in. As they both hit the mat, referee Herb “I’m Getting Too Old for This Shit” Dean patiently waited for somebody to get up. Despite the fact that the dazed Lapsley immediately started making the “no mas” hand signal, the fight was ruled a no-contest.

the bald guy just head butted him…. not right hook
May 27th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
Seemed like the guy was still trying to finish his punch after he ate the right hook. But was the headbutt that knocked both pugilists out.
May 27th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
Well at least each guy can say “At least i took the other guy down with me”. If you are gonna get knocked out this is the only way to go imo.

I CALL BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!
May 27th, 2008 at 1:53 pm
A year ago Lapsley was being viewed as a potential hot prospect, and then he fought Drew Fickett and everything’s going to shit in his career and now this.
Sucks for the kid and hope he can turn it all into a positive.

Unreal, except I don’t think the dude with the hair was knocked out. Looked more like he was in guard position.

couldn’t help but notice one kicking like a little kid trying to beat off an invisible attacker after the KO. talk about disoriented.
May 27th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
First let me say Caged fighting is not a professional sport in my eye’s. Yes, caged fighters are tough and mean and can fight really well, but it still will not be considered a professional sport like Boxing where the fighters have been trained under similar codes. Start crossing codes and you get 2 guys with different styles of fighting which leaves the door open for sloppy play. It really becomes a backyard brawl, in a cage with sponsers.

LOL @ invisible bike from the guy with the braids.
May 27th, 2008 at 4:24 pm

raped.
May 27th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
head clash knocked them both out - quite a classic. And as for the previous comment about beating off an invisable attacker - he was going offensive whilst knocked out - very good tactics when you concider his mind was numb. And as for the next lame comment about it not being a pro sport like boxing - dude where you been it’s huge! i love boxing but the fights are so far and few - i get my fight kicks from mma now weather it’s pride or ufc it is the future. Can’t wait for ufc 85 at London O2 arena - bring it on!.

Notademo, you have got MMA all wrong. ALL wrong. Have you watched any serious technical fighters? Keeping up with some of the Lightweight title fights? I suggest you do, you should be suprised.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:11 am
I have no idea who any of these guys are, but the first one landed a left blow (or hook or whatever), then the second got in a right, THEN there was the headbutt, which probably did nothing more than adding a bit of romance to the show.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:58 am
with regards to the comment about amateurs, you think boxing doesnt have any?
This double K.O isnt as good as the other one but it is funny to see the fighters reactions when down
May 28th, 2008 at 6:53 am
Is this the first double KO in mma history?
May 28th, 2008 at 8:31 am
It is so that both fighters could cash in on the betting line against a double K.O. These are MMA fighters, not gardeners, they can both take a punch better than this.
It looks fake, it is fake, and MMA is heading towards the fixed fakery of boxing, never bet on this “sport” because it is more predetermined entertainment like W.W.E.
May 28th, 2008 at 8:38 am
fake
May 28th, 2008 at 9:30 am
Fake? Fake blood too
May 28th, 2008 at 10:40 am
@anonymous no way… most double knockouts occur when the guillotine choke is applied standing up and the man being choked slams the man applying the choke… I have seen a couple double knockouts this way. Kerr got knocked out like that. They are rare as hell, but for sure not the first time with these two bouts.
@notademo hooray… you win, you got the attention of a few. Were you serious though? Have you ever wrestled, kickboxed, grappled, boxed, distance ran, strength-trained? This is just a typical day in the life of a fighter. Saying cage fighting is not a sport is an insult to MMA as well as each of these individual sports. You couldn’t hang with 10 minutes of a warm-up, I guarantee it. Learn how to spell “cage” fighters and “sponsors”, learn proper grammar on “eyes”, also boxing and caged don’t need to be capitalized. You seem really intelligent though, we should all just give up on MMA because you, someone who matters, believes it isn’t a sport. THAT’S IT, WE’RE CLOSING OUR GYM!!! Thanks for the eye-opener.
