BREAKING: Rampage Arrested After Hit-and-Run

Big trouble in the Thirty Mile Zone:
Former UFC light heavyweight champ Quinton “Rampage” Jackson got busted just minutes ago, and is currently in custody on the way to the clink, but not before he was [ordered] on the ground, cops nearby with guns drawn.
Law enforcement sources tell us, Rampage was in a car crash near Newport Beach (that’s near Laguna Beach in the O.C.) and then split the scene. Cops gave chase and eventually caught up and charged him with felony hit and run and felony evading arrest.
Here’s the deal about the dumbest hit and run ever. Notice the truck he tried evading police in — the one with the giant picture of him plastered on the side!
We’re told there could be additional charges. No word yet on whether Rampage resisted arrest.
A couple more details from the Daily Pilot via Bloody Elbow:
Jackson, the driver of a lifted, gray pick-up truck left crashed cars, shredded tires and sparks in his wake this afternoon when he led police on a short pursuit from the southbound 55 freeway exit onto Newport Boulevard where he hit at least three cars, police said.
The driver hit two cars at 19th Street and Newport Boulevard, then drove away at about 1:13 p.m., Lt. Paul Dondero said. A Costa Mesa police officer saw the driver southbound approaching 17th Street and tried to pull him over, police said. There, he hit at least one more car before continuing to run, now heading south toward the Balboa Peninsula, Dondero said. Some time after that, the truck blew a tire but continued to drive on its rims, Dondero said.
Jackson eventually gave up, pulled over and was arrested, police said. The whole chase lasted about five minutes, Dondero said.
I know that first picture looks like a movie shoot, or at the very least an episode of Punk’d gone FUBAR, but the situation is unfortunately real. Please, Quinton — one little loss is no reason to begin a dramatic downward spiral. More details to come…
UPDATE (8:45 p.m. ET): “There were no indications of drug or alcohol use by Rampage Jackson at the time of his arrest.” Jackson is being held at the Costa Mesa City Jail in lieu of a $25,000.00 bail.

Generally speaking people people run because of one or more of the following reasons:
1. Drunk/High.
2. Have warrants.
3. Will lose their license with another accident charged.
4. Are stupid and think they’ll be able to ‘lose’ the cops with their super-highspeed driving skill they picked up from watching the Bourne series.

I live in Newport RIGHT where this happened, and it blows my mind.
According to the articles I’ve read, the first accident happened on the 55 freeway. That is a 5 lane highway that ends and becomes Newport Blvd.
It is ALWAYS busy, because everyone is going to the beach….how did Rampage hit 2 cars on the freeway that has 5 lanes and traffic at about 15-20 mph, because everyone is waiting for the lights.
And then he is stupid enough to flee the scene TOWARDS the beach, he went right down past 17th, which ends up on the beach front. Where he hit ANOTHER car, again, it was probably parked or going 10 mph….no one is going fast around those parts, too many tourists.
He got pulled over on the Balboa Peninsula probably because it is a dead end, which has 3+ million beach homes, everyone has Bentleys and Range Rovers, not 4×4 with pictures on the side….he must have been retarded drunk to try and run.
PS- I also saw Rampage in Vegas on Sunday, at Rehab at the Hard Rock…and when I said whats up to him, he couldn’t even say it back without slurring his speech…he was wasted at 11am.

My guess is that hes probably been on edge for any number of reasons, possibly including his loss, got cut off or something in traffic on the freeway, then flipped out into a bad case of road rage.
I just hope he mans up to his mistakes, does whatever he can to make the situation right, then moves on with his career a wiser person.

Rampage is very fortunate that he did not hurt someone!! With that said he will have to make restitution for his actions. He will have to answer to the law, the UFC, and the fans. He most likely feels like garbage and ashamed off himself, Rampage only has Rampage to blame for his actions. I hope he faces the music and makes a full statement about the incident. Events like this will bring to light someones true character, lets wait and see how he deals with it.

i think this story got blown out. maybe cause he’s famous. why dont they show the cars he hit? cause they probably just got scratches on them or minor stuff. they said the tire blow up n he was riding on his rims.. look at the size of them things. maybe he didnt mean to hit the cars. tire pressure was a bit low n he couldnt handle as well so bumped a few cars then while turning the corner it finally popped. i dont think he ran from the cops. he probably didnt see, or hear the cops n that big truck wit the music blasting. who knows. i just think media goes to far sometimes. it says not sure if he resisted arrest… trust me u would of known if he resisted. u clearly see him on the floor with hands up on the floor.

Rampage vs Forest = Jake LaMotta vs Billy Fox. If you’ve seen Rampage fight in Pride you know there’s no way in hell he legitimately lost to Forest. Dana has his favorites and Forest is one of his “golden boys”. I think Dana paid Rampage some extra $$$ to take a fall, the same way he paid Wanderlai to take a fall against Lidell. Dana kisses Chuck’s ass because he’s the one that makes the most money for the UFC and draws the large crowds and Dana needs to protect Chuck’s record and reputation. Just my opinion but if I’m right and Rampage is feeling guilty and ashamed about compromising his pride and integrity by taking a fall against Forest it could explain this temporary bout of craziness. This behavior certainly isn’t normal for him. Cut him some slack.
