Keith Jardine to Face Brandon Vera
(”Truth” serum?)
A source tells Cage Potato that Keith Jardine will be the next opponent for Brandon Vera following his decision win over Reese Andy this past Saturday. The match seems to indicate that Vera’s stay in the light heavyweight division may be longer than he might have liked.
Jardine needs a victory after his TKO loss to Wanderlei Silva at UFC 84, and going against the once-highly touted heavyweight prospect Vera gives him a golden opportunity to get back in the running for the UFC’s light heavyweight title.
There’s no word yet on exactly when the fight will take place, but we’ll bring you more as the story develops.

This is awesome… because I know Jardine will destroy Brandon Vera.. I HATE HIM…. he is the most boring and lame fighter in the entire UFC roster..

As for being the most boring & lame fighter in the UFC, i think it’s a toss-up between Vera and Cote. you really should have to earn your nickname…how the hell does Cote get away with being called The Predator? the only thing more painful than watching his fights is listening to Goldberg & Rogan try to make them seem interesting.

OK the Almeida fight sucked because of their fear of engaging each other cause of the opposing styles but Cote is not a boring fighter. Did you watch his fights with Drew McFedries or Kendall Grove?

Cote’s got heavy hands, true. but that’s about it. he doesn’t compare to any of the top-level strikers in MMA.

Well yea he will get destroyed by Silva and he is extremely one dimensional which is why the Almeida fight sucked I won’t argue that. I just wouldn’t lump him in the always boring like Vera has become.

last summer, Vera, Joe Stevenson, Gray Maynard, and Kendall Grove dropped by my gym for an afternoon training session. They were all cool and down-to-earth (like most of the fighters i’ve met). on tv, vera whines and comes off as self-centered. but he was pretty cool that day. it’s sometimes hard to tell what a person’s like when the cameras aren’t rolling.

I am still shocked that after witnessing the beating Irvin took the other night, they want to promote Anderson Silva vs Patrick Cote? If Irvin went down as bad as he did the other night, what chance does Cote have? Patrick Cote will definitely need to earn his nickname as “The Predator” and use some laser cannons and the wrist mounted self-destruction bomb to defeat Silva

Silva will destroy him but you have to give the shot to the number 1 contender (well number two since number one has a broken hand) even if you are sure they will be out before the second round.
At least Cote proved he can take a punch with McFedries. McFedries has some serious power although I think Silva’s knees will be Cotes destruction.

Did anyone watch Vera’s first fights when he came into the UFC, he was actually an exciting fighter to watch because he capitalized on other peoples mistakes and made then pay for it dearly. Yes the last 2 fights haven’t been the greatest. Dan Fagliotta messed up and stopped the fight early on him vs Werdum. And he got tired early because of cutting 20 lbs in nearly a months time which is a lot of weight to lose in that short time. Its gonna be a tough fight for the 2, but I see Vera doing better than Jardine.

how long have you guys been watching the ufc? brandon vera is boring?? just because his last couple of fights have been “boring” doesn’t mean that the guy is a boring fighter… go and watch his highlight reel and then come back and tell me how “boring” he is. For all of you that have never put on a pair of gloves and entered the ring/octagon to fight and then come here and bash guys that train night and day as hard as they can to fight I think its ridiculous.
But hey, everyone is allowed an opinion; and that’s your opinion no matter how ignorant it is.

Vera can win this if he doesn’t fight “not to lose”. I can see this being a boring fight though. Not as boring as Vera vs Machida would be though. Two people who would try to counter punch and just circle each other for five minutes at a time.
