So David Blaine did his Dive of Death thing last night, and Esther was right about the Kimbo Slice segment: There was no trick involved whatsoever. Blaine just let Kimbo haul off and slug him in the stomach twice. It was impressive that Blaine didn’t crumple to the ground in agony — though maybe not as impressive as making the Statue of Liberty disappear.

If you’ve never seen the UFC 42 fight between Genki Sudo and Duane “Bang” Ludwig, set aside some time and check this out. Sudo’s gender-bending kabuki ring entrance is easily the most bizarre in UFC history, and calling his style “completely unorthodox” is still an understatement. You’d think that Ludwig would dash in with some punches at the beginning of the fight when Sudo has his back turned, but he was probably too freaked out to understand what was happening. Unfortunately, the fight also ends with one of the most questionable unanimous decisions in UFC history. Maybe Sudo’s geisha-boy antics invoked emotions in the judges that they weren’t quite ready to deal with…

Sudo fought in K-1 mostly…. last fight was in 2006 I think… dont quote me though.
I also remember watching this fight and asking why Ludwig didnt just run up and slap on a choke when his back was turned. It was just a strange fight to watch.

I’ve been a fan of this website since it launched in 72. Nobody forces you to read my comments. He went on to win in UFC 47 via submission and won 5 more fights in a row after that in k-1 hero’s. He retired in 2006 with an official record of 15-5-1… His last two fights were wins in K-1.

i thought the decision was on point. Ludwig came to fight and thats what he did. Since when does pulling guard and acting like a ‘tard win decisions? ANd i loved the karate kid crane kick pose at the end. F that chinaman Sudo. Maybe if he would of tried to fight instead of walking backwards and dancing gay-ly. What did he get 2 takedowns and then he pulled guard like 4 times, even when he took ludwig down he just pulled a Lay n Pray.

Genki Sudo rules. He’s fun and entertaining and really skilled. Haters continue to hate, that’s fine but this guy is rad and a decent fellow. Personally i think it’d piss me off if someone were playing around like that in a fight but if you hate it so much counteract it.
Also I think it too simple to say ‘walk up and put a choke on him when he has his back to you’. Easier said than done i’d say, Sudo is very adept at submissions.

Funny, I actually had no problem with that decision. Not sure what others are seeing.
Sudo clearly won the first round. His antics frustrated Ludwig in the standup allowing him to make some great takedowns. From there, he pretty much controlled the entire round with ground positioning and a very heavy top game. The only thing keeping it from a 10-8 was the fact that he didn’t do much damage.
The second was just the opposite. Ludwig found his range and manage to start landing good strikes from the outside. He was also effective when he managed to get on top. Again, damage was the main factor of this not being a 10-8 for Ludwig.
The third is where there can be argument. The stand up was controlled by Ludwig until Sudo got another takedown. From there, he controlled most of the round. But, when Ludwig got on top, he landed what I felt were the most significant blows of the fight. I tend to put more emphasis on damage than round control so I probably would’ve given the round to Ludwig, like the judges did. But, honestly, I wouldn’t dispute someone seeing it in favor of Sudo. It was as close of a round as you’re ever see.

We’ll first off I want to say that this fight sucked, and I think Sudo won the fight easily. He had 5 times as many takes downs, and submisssion attempts. He also GNP the fuck out of him too.
I mean all of Ludwig”s damage was done at the end of the last round. Then he did that Karate Kid bullshit. Then his trainer, and Liddell ran in an started to congratulate him while the doctors attended Sudo. What a fucking fix, and I’m a Ludwig fan! I don’t even know who Genki Sudo was before I saw this bullshit fight!

In case you guys did not notice, if it was not for the stoppage, the third round would’ve belonged to Genki also. After the stoppage instead of being put back in the guard position, they both were stand back up.
Ludwing knowing that he was losing went all out and got in some good blows at the end. That fight should’ve been a draw, if not for the stoppage it would’ve been the Neo Samurai’s win…

The way that the judges rule in a mach is:
which ever position is is more in the match (ie. more stand up or more ground) is the position that the judges will rule in favor of. In other words if you do well in the stand up, but it’s only 30sec of the round vs. if you do well on the ground for 4min the judges will rule based on the ground instead of the stand up. The only reason that I could say the judges might have given it to Ludwing is because in the 1st round Sudo gave up several chances to finish, ie. he has the mount, reverts back to side mount, and did’tt trying to finsh him while he had top position.

Houdini technically didn’t die from a punch to the stomach. He had appendicitis and when he was sucker punched in the gut it weakened the already inflamed appendix although most believe it would have ruptured regardless and he died of peritonitis from a ruptured appendix.
