(Belcher’s recovery from adetached retina isn’t going well, according to his wife.)
UFC middleweight Alan Belcher underwent a second surgery on his right eye Wednesday to repair a detached retina he thinks he suffered in training, and according to his wife, Ashlee, who sent out a few Twitter updates on "The Talent’s" day under the knife, his vision still isn’t where it should be.
Ashlee said that the next few weeks of healing are crucial in the prognosis of the injury.

According to WebMD, an injury like Belcher’s always results in at least some vision loss, but in most cases patients who undergo the necessary surgery immediately have a better chance of recovering the majority of their sight.
Alan, who was forced to pull out of a September 15 bout with Demian Maia, stated in an interview with PureFight that he didn’t realize the extent of his injury right away and may have exasperated the affliction by flying to and from Brazil to train. Because the fluid in the eye is pressurized, a microscopic retinal tear, that may have healed on its own could have worsened due to the altitude-induced pressure.
