MMA Fighter Challenges People to Punch Him in the Face, Everyone Fails

Alistair Overeem Eats Horses on Purpose

(‘Oh no you didn’t, Alistair. And to think I cheered for you against Cro Cop.’)

It’s not quite as bad as Lyoto Machida admitting to drinking his own urine every single morning, but Alistair Overeem seems to have some unusual dietary issues all his own.  In a recent interview translated by Robert K, Overeem said he’s changed everything about his life, from his girlfriend to his coach to his diet.  Now he lives mainly on “horse meat, rice, and protein shakes.”  And here you thought your dog was the only one on an equine-centric diet.

Turns out that eating horse meat is popular in certain parts of the globe that are not called the United States (the Mongolians even make a horse milk wine, so there).  According to the always informative Wikipedia:

“Horse meat contains 20% more protein than high quality beef cuts, 25% less fat, nearly 20% less sodium, double the iron and less cholesterol. When compared to ground beef, horsemeat has 55% more protein, 25% less fat, 30% less cholesterol and 27% less sodium.”

That sounds all right, if you can get past the fact that you’re eating a freaking horse.  I guess there’s no real reason, aside from the psychological ones, that it should be any weirder than eating, say, a cow.  And look what it’s done for Overeem’s physique!

Wait a minute, you thinking what I’m thinking?  All that speculation about how Overeem managed to go from a tall, kind of skinny light heavyweight to a bulky beast of a heavyweight centered on the theory that he was injecting something.  But maybe it’s the horses who have been injecting something.  You know, in their desire to get huge, floss, and get mares.  It all makes sense now.  And you know those horses are always outside tanning and stuff.  They really are the Phil Baroni‘s of the animal kingdom.

Ummm, horsemeat is not kosher, Overeem is not Jewish, so who cares?
The problem is not eating horses, it's the way cattle, especially male cattle, are raised in American agribusiness.
Castrated, shot full of female hormones so they'll grow faster, but the extra growth is all fat. Fed food their digestive tracts were not designed for, crowded so close they wallow in their own filth and get sick, then they're given antibiotics to which the bugs become immune. . . .
Agribusiness gives us all a BUM STEER.

Should eat Kangaroo meat,
way higher in protein, almost no fat, high in CLA, high in antioxidants about 45% of ur iron in one meal.
also has almost no effect on the environment cause its a native to Australia.

I don't get it. Who cares if he eats horse? If it walks on 4 legs and eats grass nearly all day it was probably meant to be eaten.

DeuceOnYoFoHead- April 22, 2009 at 12:59 pm
If I could regularly find horse meat I would eat it for sure. look at those stats up there compared to beef. Damn rights 20% more protein is a lot. Up here in Canada the best I can do is eat buffalo meat. Which is actually even leaner than Horse meat I believe, with more protein than beef. Its defiently not as good though.

Eating horses is nasty....of course, so is eating cow. Did I mention I am a vegetarian? That probably should have come first.

I know that we shouldnt expect much in terms of knowledge of ..well, anything from the monkeys that run MMA site but horse meat has an excellent reputations among weighlifters and strenght athletes.

It tastes the same as steak but is a little dryer (its leaner than beef, which is one of the supposed benefits) so most people use it in burgers or mousakas.

As far as exotic foods go, this is not in the Boshintang category ( Korean soup that includes dog meat).
This is usually sold in places were you will find duck, wild boar, bison and similar meat.

Im a city guy. Never met a cow and once or twice a horse.
I have no attachments to either. They are food and are delicious.

I knew you would rue the day Elite disappeared. I mean, what are you gonna bitch about in between mediocre UFC cards now?
This crap?

Fuck, you might as well do a top 10 list."

Fucking beautiful. LMPRAO.

Anybody here tried Kangaroo? Good stuff, tastes a bit like Panda. Put some spring in your step. For fighting spirit you had best stay with bald or golden eagle, now that is some good tasting bird meat right here. But for muscle mass, horse meat marinated in androstenedione, stanozolol or nandrolone is money.

There's a bill in congress right now that, if passed, could end all this horsemeat nonsense real quick. The Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act looks to make it illegal to contribute in any way to the horse slaughter industry. What the fuck are people going to do with the 100,000+ horses that are normally slaughtered each year in the US because the animals are no longer wanted by owners? Euthanasia costs money and so does proper carcass disposal. These seal-hugging idiots might actually increase the level of cruelty that horses face when they're left hungry and abandoned by owners not able to provide adequate care.

i dont see what the problem is, horse meat is delicious. I eat horse sausages all the time. wait.... nevermind that.

the horses are just a front for overeem's roids. sure he might have a regimented diet consisting of strictly eating horse meat, but there's no way that eating a horse will make you as bulky as one. alistair, you are a buffoon

i actually had horse sashimi while i was in Japan and its not bad at all. had it with some garlic sauce on the side.
GOOD STUFF!

I would imagine it's just like other big game meat, like moose or caribou.

My So New Says:

"Oh I see. So instead of injecting STEROIDS you really were eating horse meat. What happens if I eat gorilla meat? Would that make me BEAST LIKE?"

Actually, eating gorilla meat will give you the ebola virus.

So I'd say, stick with the horse meat.

Yeah but if he was eating horses and drinking his own pee. He would be unstoppable.
