Well, it didn’t take long for the other shoe to drop for Brett Rogers.
Hours after being arrested on multiple felonious domestic assault-related charges, former tire-changer Brett Rogers may have to go back to Sam’s Club to beg for his job back after he gets out of jail as Zuffa has terminated his Strikeforce contract.
According to MMAJunkie, UFC president Dana White announced the firing following today’s UFC 132 press conference. Usually when charges like this are laid, we wait to pass judgment until the facts of the case come out, but considering the fact that Rogers kids have told police that he hit them as well and that they witnessed the entire assault on their mother, knowing that young children rarely lie to authority figures to GET their parents into trouble, the case seems pretty cut and dry.
Good on the UFC for cutting him loose.The promotion’s zero tolerance stance on domestic violence should be applauded.
While in school for Public Relations, I devised a mock nation-wide campaign to be instituted by Zuffa in which fighters would make TV, radio and public service announcements in the vein of the “Got Milk” campaign, speaking out against bullying and domestic violence. Maybe now is the time to start such an initiative.
In the meantime, maybe they can put “The Grim Wife Beater” in a cell with War Machine for a few hours wearing a straight jacket so he can get his just desserts.

Damn, man, when I read that his wife was actually saying, ‘It was my fault he beat my ass,’ I was just baffled. It’s such a stereo type of domestic violence – this sort of a Stockholm Syndrome thing that happens and EVERYBODY knows about it but it still happens everyday, all over the place. Why does it happen? Is it fear of losing that person’s support or weird assed abuse/approval cycle? Is she just afraid she won’t be able to support herself if Brett’s in jail? What the fuck kind of deal is that to make with yourself? I know I’m just basically shitting on my keyboard right now but WTF? Anybody want to venture opinions/speculation?
