And Now He’s Fired: Joe ‘Daddy” Stevenson

Well, it looks like another The Ultimate Fighter winner has been fired by the UFC.

MMAFighting reports that TUF 2 winner Joe “Daddy” Stevenson has been released by Zuffa following his fourth straight loss in a row to Javier Vazquez at UFC Live: Kongo vs. Barry on June 26. With the firing, Stevenson, who is 8-8 in 16 UFC fights joins just three other TUF  winners — Travis Lutter (season 4), Kendall Grove (season 3) and Efrain Escudero (season 8), to be released by the promotion.

It’s not really a surprise, given the UFC’s three-strike policy that he’s been let go. What is a surprise is that they actually gave him an extra chance to turn things around.

The 29-year-old, whose record stands at 31-15, has just three wins in his last 10 fights. He has fought as high as middleweight, but recently dropped down to featherweight in an attempt to rejuvenate his sagging career, but he was unable to do enough in his decision loss to Vasquez to convince the UFC brass to keep him.

Expect an announcement in the coming weeks that he has signed with BAMMA, Bellator, Shark Fights or the MFC.

I'll always remember him as the man who climbed all over and around Mike Whitehead.

This is sad news. I always liked Joe Daddy as fighter and as a person. I'm glad UFC gave him a second chance, like they're doing it with Hardy. Hope he has does well where ever he ends up.

Well, at least he's not Tim Sylvia. He can always tell himself that.

OK, now I'll come clean.

During the Ultimate Fighter Final back in 2005, I honestly thought Luke Cummo - should have won the decision.

Even today, the shows urine therapy underdog still runs a close second to Die Antwoord's Ninja!

I honestly thought he was fired months ago. I even watched Barry Vs Kongo. Damn... I drink too much.

With the way that Joe 'fought' in his last fight... I am only surprised it took this long to find out.
