And Now He’s Fired: Nate Marquardt … Wait, What?

We blame ourselves.

Well holy shit. Word came out today that Nate Marquardt was having a bad day: he’d failed his medical clearances for his main event fight against Rick Story at tomorrow night’s UFC For Free (or whatever they’re calling it now). There weren’t a lot of details, but his management said it “only temporary” and that “Nate’s future is at welterweight.”

Marquardt’s day turned significantly worse just an hour later, when Dana Tweeted a terse video confirming that Marquardt was donezo:

“I’m sure you heard that Nate Marquardt is out. It’s true. He failed his medicals. Not only is he out of this fight, and out of the main event on Versus, he will no longer be with the UFC.”

WOW. We’re not ones to speculate, but it’s pretty obvious that BigDaddyWhite is pissed, like he’s holding the fighter responsible for some misdeed.

Oh and by the way, Marquardt will be replaced by Charlie Brenneman, who had originally been slated to fight TJ Grant. Grant pulled out of the bout three days ago due to illness, leaving Brenneman without a dance partner.

the drug testing isnt finalised BEFORE the fight is it?

Thiago Silva, Sonnen, Gracie, Diaz, Bonner etc etc - all got busted after their fights were concluded.

Other guys have been suspended, not fired, for weight and/or roids. Nate is a star, he wouldn't be let go for that when others got off with fines and suspensions.

nate has been caught for nandrolone before, i say it has to be roids. fighters have to submit medicals a week or 2 before the fight so they can be cleared by the athletic commission and have their license to fight in that state. if this is true, hes gonna have to go back to japan and fight for a while (like barnett did) and rebuild his name. but bellator should scoop him up after it goes away, right now they probably wont touch him cus u cant publicly condone his actions by granting him tons of money and a title shot. marquardt vs daley would be a good fight though.

This one is kinda clear, he either has an illness\disease\or PED issue he had to admit to. Has had the illness or disease a while and realized he couldn't pass and has not disclosed it. DW for all his faults wouldn't fire nate unless he personally did something really stupid or lied. My bet is on lied.

I heard nate Just had a extra big dildo shoved up his ass and his boyfriend spiked it with some more NANDROLONE which now proves Nate was innocent the first time he got busted for steroids in Nevada.. Ummm, so they can catch the fucking Cheaters BEFOREHAND, so they dont have to do one after(even though they do another if positive comesup :/) They dont do it very often, but the Commishes do do them. And no apparently they can do testing when ever they want on whoever If I remember correctly the new rule they implemented, something to the effect though..

No drug test would have come back this early. And if he missed weight he would have still been given the chance to fight with penalty and chastised but not fired. I don't think he has ever missed weight before.
I am thinking he got the clap or the HIV or something, and Dana is pissed because he was an idiot and didn't wrap his tool.
