Andrei Arlovski vs. Brett Rogers Added to 'Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields' (!)

The above report also mentioned that Rogers was originally supposed to take on Overeem at the event, but the Demolition Man had to pull out due to a hand injury. Crazy. On paper, Arlovski takes this one, obviously — but then again, Rogers's fists are granite, and Arlovski's chin is silly putty. We can't wait to see what happens.
The addition of Arlovski/Rogers means that Strikeforce's June 6th lineup is stacked as fuck. Here's the confirmed main card that we'll be seeing on Showtime:
182 lbs.: Robbie Lawler (16-4) vs. Jake Shields (22-4-1)
HW: Andrei Arlovski (15-6) vs. Brett Rogers (9-0)
180 lbs.: Nick Diaz (19-7) vs. Scott Smith (16-5)
WW: Phil Baroni (13-10) vs. Joe Riggs (29-10)

Agreed; this is going to be a great card. Strikeforce is a quickly becoming a serious player in MMA. Once it deepens its talent pool, airs Countdown-like shows to generate buzz, and perhaps develops a TV show like TUF, the UFC won't have much of a competitive advantage. And, these are all things Strikeforce can definitely do; the UFC can't stop them. So, the UFC has to continue innovating. The UFC's recent Burger King promo is a perfect example of this. Increased competition between MMA organizations is going to be great for the fans, I think, and that's definitely something to look forward to.

YEAH!! Should be a good KO waiting to happen for AA, Grim just hasnt impressed me at all, especially his last fight. This card is pretty stacked an cant wait for it!! Kinda strange though as I thought his Boxing debut was/is right around the same time, and Roach was just quoted a week or so ago confirming it.. maybe plans on doin both an coming out unscathed in both matches. Gonna be awesome when AA wrecks Rogers an they pair up Arlovski and Overeem. THAT fight is gonna be crazyyyyyyy IMO and hope it happens this summer too. So much for Affliction 3 in July too or guess AA isnt/wont be on it either

I don't get Showtime, and don't want to pay $20 for the next however many months just to watch StrikeForce. Most sports bars that normally show MMA events (even HDNet ones) aren't showing this.

Arlovski is terribly over-rated and has been for a long time. Glass jaw, notoriously timid (ever since being knocked out by sylvia), overrated hands, claims to know sambo, but never uses any sort of throws.
He just looks bada$$ and has a cool mouthguard.
He'll probably "control the ring" by acting like he is gonna throw some sort of strikes then get KTFO again. Then everyone will claim fluke.
To be honest, I'd be surprised if Strikeforce would even add this fight to the this card. They'll probably use Arlovski's name, while they can, on another card instead of blowing their wod on one Showtime event.
Anyone know if there are any rumors for NBC? So, we can actually watch their events live somehow.

That's a damn good card for Strikeforce. I think this fight will be closer than most would believe. Rogers lacks technique, but he can take a lot of punishment and he throws hard. Arlovski is superior all around, but he can't afford to make many mistakes in this one. One wrong punch and he's done. Arlovski will dictate the fight since we know Rogers will want a slugfest.
Will Arlovski:
A) Play it safe (yet again)
B) Attempt his Fedor gameplan again and hope it works
C) Grapple
My vote is A with a smattering of B if Rogers gasses from chasing him.

All the respect goes to Brett Rogers. Not to take anything away from brett, but AA is going to bring a big challenge to him. I believe he may shock all of you. Arlovski's boxing has came around quite a bit. I don't believe his chin can take a shot from Rogers.

While Arlovski has a weak chin (they even left it in the UFC video game), he's going to steamroll Rogers with his speed and skill. He's just barely overrated. You can't deny his speed, hand speed, athletic ability. He's just got to wait for 2:30 in the first round when Rogers gasses and it's over.
This is just a way to have Arlovski have beaten a "top-ranked" fighter for Strikeforce so they have a bad ass card in the late summer with Overeem and Arlovski headlining.
And as soon as their contracts are up guess where they are going? Oh yeah, UFC.
