BREAKING: GSP Blows ACL, Diaz vs. Condit for Interim Title at UFC 143

(I am not empressed wid my physical therapist’s performance.)

Well son of a bitch. The UFC injury curse has officially become a plague of biblical proportions. Word just broke that UFC welterweight champion George St. Pierre has suffered another knee injury, described as a “blown ACL,” in training and has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled contest against Nick Diaz at UFC 143. Fear not, UFC 143′s main event has already been replaced by a welterweight interim championship bout between Diaz and former number one contender Carlos Condit. A poor turn of luck, no doubt, but it could be worse for those of you who’ve already purchased tickets.

But Christ, can you imagine what the hell has got to be running through Condit’s mind at this point? In a few months time, he has been declared:

1. The next challenger to GSP
2. The #1 contender after GSP healed
3. Second trumpet to Nick Diaz
4. A challenger for the interim title vs. Diaz.

Talk about a mindfuck.

UFC 143 is set do go down February 4th at the Mandalay Bay.

Funny, best board ever was a Bear tri-fin.
As for the ACL, only time I fucked it up was snowboarding. You got pretty close, its was in Big Bear.
No surgery, too cheap at the time.
Healed fine, but too about 4-5 years for the functionality to return to normal.
Poor GSP, I hope no one calls him a big pussy.

Bad news for Nick; Condit is dangerous as fuck and on a tear. If he's lucky he can get a 5 rounder because it's the main, not that I'm sure Condit would gas; Jackson has those guys doing crazy shit up in the east mountains. Actually more excited about this one.
kbickham- December 8, 2011 at 8:24 am
those people saying gsp is dodging are fucking retarded. I'm 15 weeks out of acl surgery right now, this is the hardest thing a fighter can endure, period. good luck gsp. with THAT kind of money/insurance/pre-op condition- he can come back.

i agree with rsparrow. no matter the reason if you dont defend your title for overa year it should be striped. we dont want another overeem 2 years between defences

GSP is ducking who now?
A blown ACL is one of the very worst injuries for athletes. Ask a football player to choose between a broken arm or leg and a blown ACL and he'll say "break that motherfuckin' bone dude. now! Here's a sledgehammer. Do it !"
Look it up bitches. Stop besmirching an all time great.

I know! You just know they're both going to be standing in the pocket and trading the second the bell rings. Who really knows where the fight will go from there?

Yeah I agree a more entertaining fight but damn I really wanted to see Nick fight George, oh well. This is a hard fight to call, they are both strong in the same areas but I give Nick an edge with the cardio and if he can set his usual pace Carlos may get frustrated. Nick will have to be careful early on when he is finding his range because Carlos can finish a fight quick if he tags his opponent. Goddamn what an interesting matchup.

This is great news for Diaz. He spent all those years over in Strikeforce ducking GSP and other legit welterweights, only to accidentally piss off GSP with his unprofessionalism and wind up in a title fight against the champion he obviously was trying hard to avoid.
Too bad Condit isn't Frank Shamrock, or even BJ Penn. He actually is still relevant in the sport, and he isn't completely useless after the first round.
SnackDaddy- December 7, 2011 at 9:07 pm
Saying GSP is mentally weak or ducking Diaz is ludicrous. I still think he would have finished this fight in any position. He really wanted a go at this punk and now he's gonna have to wait. Hopefully for him, Diaz will beat Condit, though Condit is a much more dangerous proposition. Anyway, now we're getting an even better fight. Two guys who always bring it. I've got this one Condit by a flying-fucking-knee.
RSparrow- December 7, 2011 at 6:52 pm
Why did he tweet that he was ready for the fight hours earlier? What the FUCK. Wouldn't he know that he had a blown ACL? He's mentally weak and I think he knew Diaz was coming for him. I'm not much of a fan after two consecutive cop outs... take this dudes belt away, call him the number one conender and have the winner of Diaz Conduit called WW CHAMP!!!

Xrays and MRI or it didn't happen.
JPfighter-DAMMA- December 7, 2011 at 4:56 pm
I'm a GSP fan, always have been and likely always will be. But truthfully, it's getting a little tiresome watching him dump-and-hump all of his opponents, and now seeing him bail out of two matches in a row (regardless if the injuries are legitimate or not). Just seems that holding onto the belt is his sole goal, and wants to keep his actual octagon time to a minimum. Those major sponsonship deals put lots of cash in his pocket, but take away the entertainment value for the fans, given that he is too afraid to risk the loss of sponsorship money to put on a good show.
RSparrow- December 7, 2011 at 3:56 pm
Great, they are fighting for a fake belt. GSP, chill out with the gymnastics. No one cares that you can do a backflip if you hurt yourself in the process. Big time bummer, man. Fuck.
SonOfSerbia- December 7, 2011 at 3:50 pm
Diaz gets ducked by GSP...again!....don't be scared homie...the real odd man out is ol' fraggle-head KossRoss. They need to give him a worthy top picks to take on KossRoss would be Rory MacDonald, Jake Shields, Rick Story, or Dan Hardy...WAR DIAZ
McLuvin- December 7, 2011 at 3:13 pm
At least Condit didn't get passed over again. They could have booked Diaz/fraggle and left Condit out entirely. I hope Condit crushes Diaz. He won't gas like Penn.
RearNakedSpoon- December 7, 2011 at 3:06 pm
Well thats annoying. They should have this fight as winner gets first chance at being destroyed by GSP. That way when Diaz loses to Condit we can still get to see him helpless against GSP in the following title fight. I'm sure he will happily accept another can on his record while waiting.
It's so unfortunate we have to wait so long to see a true professional fighter like GSP perform again :(
macreadysshack- December 7, 2011 at 2:20 pm
What a kick ass fight. I'm just as excited to see Condit Vs Diaz. I wonder if Diaz will keep calling him Conduit. Both of these fuckers bring it with guts and they both have skills for days standing and on the ground. Bad ass fight.
edhedicus- December 7, 2011 at 2:14 pm
One Gracie boy got his first introduction to unconciousness in the UFC, now time for the next on to be handled. Condit by KO, perfect left hook, round 2.

good form. ksg good form.

HandsofGold- December 7, 2011 at 1:24 pm
Diaz lucked out!
Romanhelmut- December 7, 2011 at 1:24 pm
Actually this is better since it will result in a very legit #1 contender. I always thought that Diaz, although a champ in strikeforce should not be given a shot so soon in the UFC and Condit is kicking ass so this should be good.......BTW FRIED TACO is not lame since I thought that was a great link about knee pain....when I run I get a pain in my left meniscus so thought it was a good read.

Spooki kabuki takes it in the ass.

He probably blew his ACL pile driving some dude in the balloon knot on the hardwood floor in his living room, and his knee slipped which caused him to tear his ACL.
